Booth had a great plan for Groves but DeGale sussed it out as the fight wore on. DeGale was in control in the last two rounds and Groves had no idea what to do beyond dig in.
I'm not sure why McDonnell it being hung out to dry, the fight was really close, one rd on two judge's cards, it could so easilly have gone the other way, Credit where credit is due Booth had the tatics right, it upset Degale. as we know southpaws are natrual counter punchers, but it wasn't as if Groves wiped the floor with him, toss that fight ten times and DeGale would win at least half, i feel the crowd also played a big part everytime Groves throw a punch he was cheered to the rafters, that can swing tight rds. Befor this fight many people were calling Booth a crap trainer, now he's brilliant.
Gameplan was right again as he has done often for Haye, keeps very composed at all times ie Anderson fight however I will say he got it wrong in that fight really and George had to gut out. The situation of only having a couple of fighters works for them too (though Jimmy Mc has few so dont always work) hes a very good trainer and manager. Get George a world title and we'll see, Jimmy Tibbs has had the odd bit of success! Arnie, Billly Nelson and Joe Gallagher all had success in different ways too, brit fighters dont have to go stateside to get the most out themselves
He obviously deserves props for his tactical acumen tonight. I got to be honest though, I don't personally like much about his style of training, the slugging style he has trained Haye with is great because of how much he outspeeds most of the terrible heavies. But (and I know Groves won) but I don't like the way he teaches his fighters to box on the outside, it's as if he teaches them to slug from the outside, it has bonus points for being awkward but I will bet the house that a world class pressure fighter takes Groves all day, but props to Groves and his heart. And props to Booth for tonight and for taking Haye to where he is. I'm just criticising from a technical aspect, which I think is warranted, easily.
Adam Booth is well known for being with David Haye. But, what boxing pedigree does he have? Was he a pro boxer himself? Sorry, but i really don't know much about him.
Sum1 was saying tonight he was a quality amateur fighter but he picked up an injury which halted him from going in to the pros. He was a university lecturer in London somehwere but dont know if he still is.
Liked the way he carried himself throughout the whole thing, it's as if he just knows he's doing the right thing. Don't worry DeGale we won't hold you to the bet was classic as well.
