I disagree with Booth to a lesser extent, I think Haye could've done more. The "he's too big" excuse doesn't fly because it wasn't a one sided affair (on the cards it was, but David was doing the best out of any of his recent opponents and he was arguably the smallest) and I think throwing caution into the wind wasn't a terrible thingt o do. That's what fighters do when they can't win the fight on points, Booth apparently thought that was how he was meant to win the fight? No chance, no chance at all. If that was his gameplan, no wonder he did so terrible. He should've focused on the counterpunching and effective pressure, not ****ing windmilling. Bobbing, weaving, getting in, using his jab, but there was none of that.

 

I don't recall Booth moaning about the size difference when Haye fought Valuev. Anyway, I thought Haye was meant to make up for lack of size by using his speed and explosiveness?


I am glad that Adam Booth hasn't made a big thing about the toe, though, but it does remind me of something Haye said before the fight. He claimed he had been doing a lot of sparring in the southpaw stance, as they thought Wlad struggles with southpaws.

Now, I wasn't expectimg Haye to come out southpaw against Wlad, but when he realised he couldn't push off on the right foot, surely switching stances would have been worth a shot? To be honest I expected a bit more from Booth during the fight, it looked like he had a half baked plan A, and no plan B whatsoever.

 

Yeah when he said hard to find he literally meant he couldn't see him in the ring didn't he, you quilt. Wladimir Klit World Heavyweight Hide and Seek Champion. Sweet baby jesus, some ****ing people.

 

You know what, mate. That's exacttly what I said. When I was downstairs and he made that excuse, I was like "...so why didn't he change stance? :think"

I guess at the end of the day it doesn't matter. It's shoulda woulda coulda. All that matters is the end result. But the loss is worse due to all the talking and the excuses and all that ****. I could never go out the way Haye has, I wouldn't be able to make peace with my boxing career unless I really didn't care that much about it. I guess he has achieved his goals but it depends on if he wanted to be the Undisputed Champion more than a World Champion. But if he says "I'll fight on" he gets even more stick for not sticking to his guns.
