No, but seriously, most people overrate the Filipino's adoration of Pacquiao. They love him as a boxer and that's it. Everything else he's done in showbusiness and politics has flopped miserably (or even worse than miserably) because no one actually believes that he can make serious strides in showbusiness or be a politician.

 

I can almost guarantee you this will be ignored by Team Pac because according to them the only person who cannot get away with harsh criticism like this is Floyd. He gets sued but everybody else easily gets off the hook.

It's cool that Carolla apologized because I'm sure he hurt a lot of people's feelings. But that doesn't mean he didn't speak the truth. Like Carolla said, it's cool to be proud of a hero who represents your country but there's a line that has to be drawn. With Manny Pac he's basically God to Filipino people. Not that I would go out of my way to change this but it is unhealthy when a level of obsession is way off the charts. Pac is a legendary boxer and gives back to his community. Great. But the whole country shouldn't revolve around him.

The PI is not the most developed country but they are certainly not deprived of important figures. There are/were a handful of Filipino inventors, scientists, doctors, etc. who have contributed in a more meaningful way than Manny Pacquiao. Jose Rizal, Teodoro Aconcillo, and Julian Banzon are just a few names that should be more recognized.

I'll admit my country has an obsession with athletes as well. And if we worship Lebron James the same way Pac gets treated in the PI, I'd hang my head low in complete shame.

Did you not read what I said above? Manny's ventures outside of boxing failed miserably. So how do you figure that Pac is worshipped like a god in the PI?

 

Didn't I say the cuts against PI were uncalled for? I didn't listen to this clip, but I heard the entire thing before. He started talking about the point and then "drifted" into a rant.

He said that he should have taken the test and the fact people are giving him a pass for this crap is ignorant. No other guy could pull this crap and have people accept it.
