Adam Etches 7(5)-0 http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=545982&cat=boxer Ex-kickboxer who sells a lot of tickets, trained by the Ingles & promoted by Hatton. A come-forward puncher with a fan-friendly style what are your thoughts on him? How far can he go? Looks decent, Looks comfortable enough in ring. As Jamsey said i can see him being a little one paced. He's to straight ahead for my liking, Like to see some head movement and feints to set shots up. The worry is he often telegraph's his shots and leaves the chin high off the jab. Decent fighter, lot of work to be done but liked the power to body really digs in and seems to punch hard enough to make a decent level. English title level at the very least just depends how he develops.
Can't see the video on my phone but is this the guy that they talked about on Ringside? Stopped some Latvian (probably not) guy with a few hurtful body shots. I thought he looked pretty good but it was one of those where you don't know how much of it is power and how much it is just a bad opponent.
Can't really tell, its easy for somebody with a bit of power and a naturally aggressive style to knock over these soft Eastern Euros.
Thanks for your comments :good I like the kid (no homo), he's 21 & only had 30 am fights but got 15 stoppages. He can dig a bit but I think its hurtful accumulative power rather than concussive one-shot. He's aggressive, willing to engage & is already selling a lot of tickets which bodes well for the future. Etches clearly has some flaws that need ironing out, he doesnt recover well after throwing shots & sticks his head up too much at the moment. He's wide open for counters when he lets his hands go but is confident his power will win the exchanges & thats enough at the level he's at right now. His style seems to be more like a typical Manchester-pressure fighter than an Ingle-boxer so it will be interesting to see how he develops. Will it be a match made in heaven or will he end up confused about his ring identity? Etches is a bit primitive but has potential imo, definately one to look out for in the future & he could be in some entertaining fights one day. I hope he'll be contesting for area/regional titles by the end of the year. He's already got his own highlight video [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCQSz6YEycc[/ame]
One thing's for sure, he's going to give us some exciting nights in the future, no matter how far he reaches in his career. :good
he beat my mate in the semis,it was on the rollback and they gave him the extra point. to be honest and im not just saying it cos hes my mate but he did win IMO.(my mate that is) up to that point hed knocked everyone out. in the ams he was heavily reliant on his big right, which was too much for 90% of ams and thats why he did so well. I also watched him beat kOSTOV in his last pro fight, the opp was a crap one but etches still looked ok. dont know how far hell go,id place him as a poss mixer for the british in his weight division
watched him spar ryan rhodes before the alverez fight, hes very strong and bangs hard to the body, nice kid aswell, was gunna jump in and do a couple but thought **** that
He boxed in the midland regions as an amateur (St Michaels maybe) does anybody know why this was? His gym mate Scott Jenkins did too, yet both are from Sheffield?!?!
hes exciting to watch and i think he is a poor mans ricky hatton with his style, but hes got a solid fan base and his style is exciting so that can only get better. really excited about this lad!
