Could argue that was a draw, Kiladze also had a lot of success with him and the fight with a completely over the hill Arreola wasn't as easy as they planned. Helenius has an outside chance here. Just can't clipped too much and needs to get Kownackis respect early here. This is the last chance for the Nordic nightmare to line up a world title fight. He'll give it his all even if he ends up short.
Adam Kownacki isn't much different than Dillian Whyte. * Kownacki is fighting Helenius. Whyte decisioned Helenius. * Kownacki knocked out Spzilka. (Spzilka beat Wach.) Whyte decisioned Wach. * Kownacki decisioned former champ Charles Martin. Whyte decisioned former champ Joseph Parker. * Kownacki fought longtime contender Arreola. Whyte fought longtime contender Chisora (twice). * Kownacki knocked out former football player and fringe contender Gerald Washington. Whyte knocked out former bouncer and fringe contender Lucas Browne. Kownacki is rated #3 by the WBA, #3 by the IBF, #3 by the WBO and #6 by the WBC. He's in position to fight for a vacant WBO or vacant IBF belt against either Pulev or Usyk. Helenius is a good keep-busy fight for Kownacki while Pulev and Usyk sit idle waiting for Joshua to decide who he's going to fight. In fact, Helenius is a good tuneup fight for Kownacki if he's fighting Pulev in May or June for the vacant IBF belt. Helenius and Pulev have a similar style.
Helenuis had a short prime when he KOed a couple of past prime top 10 fighters, but quickly declined due to injuries.
Very disappointed in this match for Adam. It will prove nothing when/if he KO's Helenius. Not a step up. I suppose we can't argue against it if we complain about guys fighting only 1 or 2 times a year. A "stay busy" fight, I guess.
Yeah he's just a known name on people's records now. Still, if he can make a living out of it and enjoy's doing it then fair play to him. It will be interesting to see who they match Ajagba up with on this card and Faure has a decent little step up fight against Joey Dawejko so it's shaping up to be an ok card.
Kownacki resume is no where near Whytes. Kownacki hasnt fought anyone the level of Chisora let alone Rivas or Parker.
Kownacki's resume is NEAR Whyte's. It's not better. But it's not far off. Don't kid yourself. Kownacki is rated #3 across the board by most orgs and is rated by Ring. And Kownacki will likely fight for a vacant belt this year against a Rivas-level opponent. Whyte's just a little ahead of him. Not by much, though. And Whyte hasn't been any more impressive against the same level of opposition. In fact, Kownacki probably has the better chin and better workrate.
How is Kownacki resume near Whyte's when he hasn't even fought anyone of the standard of Chisora nevermind Rivas and Parker. The best opponent AK fought was Martin amd he nearly lost that. What vacant belt will Kownacki fight for?
