Unpopular opinion on here but I thought Adam came across really well on this latest interview. Critical but measured about Joshua, and gave a bit back to Eddie. Seems excited about the new deal sky have, let's hope they can make some decent fights.
Smith’s a weirdo and makes bizarre comments during fights. He’s also a company man with Sky so you have to take everything he says with a pinch of salt. But one thing for sure is he is a proper boxing enthusiast and I hope he assists Sky in putting on good fights now.
Was surprised when he called the fights properly in the Hatton and Joshua v Usyk bouts - thought my ears were deceiving me. Macklin 'I have not been scoring it Adam' needs to go as a complete waste of space - Smith needs a partner who can actually give an objective and informed opinion on the progress of the fight including their scorecard at the end of any round.
Agree Macklin needs to go. Thought Josh Taylor called the fights well and with no bull****. Smith could do with a proper co-comm.
Completely agree. Not quite sure how Macklin came from nowhere to be Sky's top co-commentator, but he isn't in the class of, for example, Barry Jones.
In the case of Matthew Macklin, I am not sure whether it is Sky who is employing him or him telling Sky/Smith to employ him, he is clearly there to raise his own profile and despite his consistently poor punditry they seem hesitant to replace him.
Smith is alright. Gets a bit excited and starts rambling during his commentary but you can tell he knows and loves boxing. Macklin is crap.
He could be a good commentator if his main function was not to manipulate the audience towards his company rhetoric. He is very good at what he does and I'm not talking boxing commentary.
Bloody hell I'm just watching his interview. Umar asks him one question and Adam bleats on for about 15 mins talking about 27 different topics including answering the question he was originally asked. He literally is asking himself, questions and then answering them himself in such detail. Demoralising to sit there and realise you've switched off, because he hasn't shut up. I'm waiting for the Hearn bit..
Yeh i like his voice as a commentator but not his words. He does comes across as sound in his interviews, never bitter unlike the rest of these figureheads in boxing
