Ricky's career was all about timing, Although i think the WBU years ate far to much into what should of been a longer time at world level.

People complain about Kell Brook right now but with Hatton it took until his 38th fight to face a world class fighter and a world class fighter he was Tszyu IMO before that i saw Tackie as a guy on back end of two one sided losses and on other side of prime and likes of No Joke Stewart were not world class fighters IMO. But Frank had no intentions at that point of him facing likes of Harris and Spadafora who would of been a hard fight for Hatton with his ability.

He seemed to feed Hatton, Mitchell's left overs and Hatton took these guys out. I think the only legit tests IMO during that WBU run was Phillips and Magee but even with Magee i felt he lost to Neary a little while earlier. Phillips hung with guys like Mitchell and Olivera and beat Tszyu years before that.

Frank is good at them type of interviews, throw a wobbler and say you didn't give us enough money and hope the interview runs out of time.

 

Hatton was the one who had started the "looking at other options" talk earlier in the week. Smith was just questioning Hatton on his quote.
