I thought he was quite good personally, a little over the top sometimes but is knowledgeable and clearly loves the sport. There are far worse commentators on the scene, some of which let their bias ruin the punditry

 

Smith is a snake oil salesman. He's done an excellent job for Sky by mugging off Joe public. He does add excitement and has a good broadcasting voice, if only he used it without bias he would be a legend.

Those boys were very unlucky as no way Caldwell turns the heating up full these days with the energy prices.

I feel bad for him because people used to make those stupid jokes about him all the time. I know people thought they were funny but imagine how he felt seeing them and he has children who are at the age of using the internet and seeing things said about their father. I hope he is doing good.

He also would always admit to watching rival cards from other promoters and buying their PPVs.
