Ive been disturbed over the last few months with the way SKY Boxing has changed and how it tries to force the viewer to see/think something that aint there. This was most evident during Tuesday's Prizefighter. Sky commentaries have always carried a bias it seems, mainly when a British fighter is fighting abroad, and Jim Watt gets alot of stick for the way he airs his thoughts on fight. But at least with Watt he is expressing his own views only, and will not side with a fighter based on nationality/race. Since Adam Smith has taken the job of head of Sky Boxing, Sky seem to have turned into a Disney. By this i mean creating a image/animation that is not real, but if they sit in front of you and tell you enough that what they see is the reality, you can hypnotize the average viewer. What is the aim of this ? with Disney, they have a brand and sell future products on the back of the characters they create. Can this same scenario be put for Sky ? The answer is simply yes! If it's not a yes, then even worse in many peoples eyes, is it can only be put down to bigotry or even racism. What is clear is, for not the first time, Adam Smith & his toe the line crew deliberately tried to delude and lead the viewer into seeing something that never existed and take a negative view on one fighter..........that fighter in question was Yassine El Maachi. The Maachi vs Lynes commentary is the worst commentary i have ever heard, it is simply not down to just a bad or poor commentary, a more sinister side exists beneath the surface. As pointed out above, what that is, is open to debate. But the lack of respect for the viewers who can clearly see what is going on, is down right disrespectful. I urge anyone to listen back to the 1st round of the fight, and how disturbingly bad it was. Make no mistake this is not down to the fact, Adam Smith doesn't know what hes talking about, he knows his Boxing and is a smart man. What you seen on Tuesday, is what the future of Sky Boxing holds under Smith. It is simple a case of siding with one fighter/one promoter/one brand that earns the most for them, and not caring about providing a none bias service. This has been going on for years with HBO and the bias towards American fighters, we are now seeing this over here regarding UK fighters. What that leaves open, is the door for more fighters to be robbed, more dodgy scorecards, more dodgy stoppage fights and a open path to sweep it all under the carpet without a word said. Boxing is being taken down a rode under Adam Smith which will drive the average fan away, because that commentary alone on the weekend, was enough to turn my stomach and make my blood boil, only for the fact the fighter got justice and won that we can all laugh. But we all know 95% o the time that does not happen.
I completely agree, the Lynes/El Maachi commentary was disgusting. I did believe that Lynes might have squeaked his way to victory in that fight but the commentary was shameful.
Yeah I thought a lot of El Maachis clean work was being ignored and that Lynes was being praised for hitting gloves. I had El Maachi by 1 but could have seen it either way
I scored the first for el Maachi but watched the rest of the fight without sound due to a technical hitch.
I played the commentary backwards and I don't want to imply Sky have any ill intentions but I am now grandparentless and sitting here in a coat made of human skin.
You might all laugh, mock & wish to laugh off what i say and the power Smith has over fans. But do i need to remind you of what he did for Hyae vs Harrison. He turned a pointless fight into one we thought could be something that never existed. How did he do this ? Well............ [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_7ZIps1iTA[/ame] The power of words, hearing the same thing over and over and over and over. Even the strongest person will take a split second to think, "well maybe he is right, maybe im missing it".
