I've always liked Adam Smith's passion for boxing. I can hear that it is something he is passionate about passing on to the viewers. Also personally miss Barry Jones as a co-commentator. He's really good.
Very much agree, I have now watched a handful of Adam Smith interviews in the past months and what has stood out in each one is whenever he has been asked about Eddie and Matchroom specifically he has been so positive, polite and complimentary- something which surprised me as Eddie has done the total apposite. Adam Smith comes across as someone who loves boxing, wants to see good fights and is perfectly happy to give credit where and when it's due to a rival promoter. Eddie on the other hand...every single mention of Khan vs Brook, or any other Sky fight he just can't help himself he has to have a couple of little or sometimes not so little digs, snide remarks and or sarcastic comments. I generally gave Eddie the benefit of the doubt trying to be objective and see the good he has done as well but since the move to DAZN various comments he has made show him in such a poor light. He has recently especially come across as a petulant, bitter, mean spirited and incredible self abscessed man.
Completely agree. Have said in previous threads that I really like Adam Smith. You can tell he lives and breaths boxing. And rather like Eddie who tries to it down Sky at every opportunity (even though without Sky's backing Eddie would be nowhere) Adam has nothing but nice things to say about him and other promoters. A true gent
He is an expert in the art of persuasion and his talent for rhetoric should be commended not his boxing analysis. Company man through and through.
Adam Smith truly does love boxing, that is very clear. He is killing Hearn with kindness, and in doing so is showing him up for his bitter little digs against Sky boxing.
Can't remember the fight but they had Smith and Barry commentating together a year or 2 ago and Smith really didn't get Barry's sarcasm
It's a fight that attracts the casuals. Loads of my mates who have no real interest in boxing are talking about it - doubt they care what the undercard is like.
loads of people love boxing but they are still dullards.... i personally couldn't care less how much he loves boxing he is a fake company man salesman... his schtick has obviously worked on you
It’s a box office fight so the main event can make as much as possible. They’re not going to go that far and waste cash on an undercard. Bet hardly anyone watches the undercard regardless of who’s in it. Might as well show it freeview and tempt people into the main event.
Hes nauseating on commentary. Thankfully I picked up the ESPN feed. I don't care how much he loves boxing. We all have hundreds/thousands of posts on a boxing forum - we love boxing. His commentary is atrocious and he hasn't got the decency to step back and get someone who is actually good at commentating to do it.
