What happened to him 'wanting to go down other roads outside of boxing'? I am paraphrasing of course but this was a load of bull****, and why wasn't he given his flowers by SKY? Something appears to have happened there that we aren't privy to.
Set up a sports management company didn’t he? To be fair he’s just a lead commentator now as opposed to Head of Boxing at Sky.
After listening to KSI's "commentary" for Darren Tills last Misfits fight I've decided Adam Smith isn't so bad.
He's actually a really articulate guy with a genuine love of the sport. He's been an absolutely massive upgrade on what they had since he joined DAZN. Not a hard task I know, but Smith makes a difficult job seem easy.
Are you his wife ? He's the worse commentator in sports and now he's on every week. The best show there's been on Dazn this year was when he was away so he couldn't ruin it. As for ' he makes a difficult job seem easy ' have you listened to him straining and growling as he sticks to his pre fight narrative no matter what's going on in the ring. Even my wife who has no interest in sport at all said after hearing him ' how can you listen to him for hours ? ' Unfortunately I have no choice if I want to see the fights. Good job he wasn't commentating on Hagler Hearns or everyone would be saying how dire it was. The plum.
I don't have any problem with him as a person, he seems like a nice bloke. I just wish he'd just tone down the excitement a little sometimes when there's nothing much happening in a fight. Also not a fan of going through fighters sob stories mid-action, "this gladiator from wherever, had a horrible training camp with news his nephew's hamster died" Apart from that, he's fine.
Hopefully AI can bring fans commentary by Jim Watt and Ian Darke in the future - both levels above the current crop commentating these days.
It doesn't matter how articulate someone is. It's the meaning the words convey, not the way in which they are delivered. He's as corporate as it gets. I can't remember him ever saying anything interesting. Anyway, he's hardly articulate. He may be perceived as articulate by some because their head is stuck in the boxing bubble and never actually listen to anyone who is genuinely articulate.
And Glenn McCrory. Jim Watt, a very good boxer and great commentator and analyst. He was teak tough was Jim.
I do get that point, particularly when he's on TalkSport being interviewed by Simon Jordan, he's overly diplomatic and sits firmly on the fence whatever the topic. A bit like a politician, you never get any straightforward answers.
"Arrrrrrm puncheees" "He really looks like he fancies the job" Loved him, loved the yin and Yang he had with Reg, Ian Darke and big Glenn also had a great chemistry "Lewis, waiting, like a lion in the long grass" hahaha. Was never really keen on Harry Carpenter though
He stepped away as he had a battle with cancer, was seriously ill by all accounts Understand he can get over excited during fights and too many 'sound bites' for my liking, but genuinely a boxing fan and seems a good guy, prefer his analysis over his commentary tho
Jim was a much better fighter than commentator; I think Adam is a better commentator. Every time Ricky Burns was losing a fight, Jim would just be shouting "this isn't the real Ricky Burns" repeatedly.
