Adamek, as much as I like him, is close to feather-fisted at HW

He has fast hands and connects plenty, but when a 38 year old Michael Grant and a geriatric Golota walk through all your punches, you seriously lack punching power. His promotors would do well to cash out against either Klitschko and then go down to cruiserweight. All of his heavyweights fights have been tough and hard wars for Adamek, even against Estrada and Grant last night... his career will be short if he goes on like this for too long.

got to give adamek props for fighting grant though. takes balls to move up and fight a guy like that. adamek could do a haye and milk the heavies if he wanted too, but there's no way he'll fight a klitschko.

Well he wasn't a one-punch knockout guy at cruiserweight, so it stands to reason that he would be a mediocre puncher at heavyweight, especially considering how huge these guys are nowadays at HW. But i don't think he's ever gonna be moving back down to cruiser. Wether he fights the Klits or not, beating second- and third-rate HW's like he's been doing probably still makes him more money than being cruiserweight champion of the world. And he may well beat every HW outside of the Klits, so why not? And as for the longevity of his career, he's been fighting as a pro for over 11 years and he's 34 before the year is out. Why should he be looking to fight on for more than 2-3 years?

Grant hasn't beaten a live contender for more a decade now. Yes he's big, but there's nothing to suggest he was a dangerous opponent. I do respect Adamek for staying active and climbing up so far in weight in general, but let's be real. The ideal scenario was for him to put Grant away with relative ease and boost confidence that he can knock out a 6'7 guy, but that plan backfired...

He has never been a big puncher , most of his knockouts were against losing records in Poland. Doesnt have one punch knockout power , and by the looks of things isnt that strong in the chin department , as grant isnt known for his power either.

    Feather fisted? Hell no.

He has 4 fights at HW and 1 KO. The fight that werent KOs were:
-Estrada, who was never down in his career
-Arreola, who was dwon once, but was never knocked out
-Grant, who outweighed Adamek by 45lbs, outreached by 10 inches and is 5 inches taller

He obviously isnt a 1-KO puncher like Haye or Klitschko brothers, but he isnt feather fisted. He is somewhere in the middle - decent punching power. But he doesnt need to be a 1-KO puncher, until he may outbox opponent. However if he wants to step up, then I agree, that he and his trainer must find a way to increase the power.

Adamek never goes to the ring to knock out opponent. He usually KD/KOs opponents when he is counterpunching. And it was Grant who was looking for the counterpunch for the first half of the fight.

Pretty hard to make an argument that Grant is a better opponent than any of Barrett, Valeuv or Ruiz.

Yeah, I was thinking about this issue too. Adamek wasn't a one-punch KO artist but he had decent power in his CW years. He always claimed he had to starve himself to make the weight and things like that. I expected him to carry some of that power to HW. Like I see it he is 0-4 in KO'ing HW's. Golota wasn't really hurt, he decided to quit, like always. Looking at his face, he wasn't planning to do much in that fight, nor was he planning to get up when floored. He could but he didn't...

He has decent power. Otherwise Arreola wouldnt be so respectful of it and would take some to land his own punches like he did vs Minto for example.

Arreola hurt both hands so he had to pick his punches

adamek taking on a guy that big is a big deal.
it was never going to be an easy night for him - especially against a guy who was touted as a future 'great' fighter and who had one last crack at reigniting his career.

i'm judging haye for what he's said..and done since, rather than a direct comparison.

I thought you were judging who they had fought hence "takes balls to move up and fight a guy like that"...

Lol. Golota also never had the best of chins but still Adamek managed to drop the bigger guy.
