True. Noobs think 10-8 is a must if there is a KD. It is not.

Generally, if A is winning the round 10-9, he gets an extra point for a KD and wins 10-8.

If B is winning the round 10-9 except for the KD (scored by A) then A gets TWO points and wins the round 10-9, instead of losing it 10-9. Giving a losing guy 10-8 would be giving him THREE points, which complete out of sync with the points system.

After reading the threads first and just recently watching the fight, its occured to me that people are getting influenced too much by the commentators. They harp on about it being a 10-8 round for Cunningham after two minutes.

A 10-8 round (without a KD) should only be scored if the round is completely dominated by a boxer. The example being used is MP vs Hoya, Hoya didn't go down but got beaten in every department. It was such a dominant round for Manny and Hoya did so little that it was scored 10-8.

Cunningham was doing great for the first two minutes, if that continued until the round ended then it could be a 10-8 round. But the rally ended after 2mins and Adamek came back and floored him. A round is scored once it has ended, you can't lock in a 10-8 round before the round is completed. In the last minute SC landed three punches...it was all Adamek.

This is an Adamek round 10-8. Don't accept everything the commentators say.

You cannot lose 2:50 of round and with a knockdown have it scored 10-8. It has to be 9-9. I can understand 10-9 too, but NEVER 10-8

Yeah but 2:50 is different than 2:00.

That is an interesting question. Had Cunningham dominated every second of the round and Adamek landed only 1 punch to score a knockdown then its 10-9 but before the KD like 10-15 seconds Adamek was turning the tide and after the knockdown he pressured Cunningham. So its debatable IMO.

Anybody that doesn't score that round 10-9 for Adamek either doesn't know how to score a fight or is a complete *******.

Cunningham DOMINATED that round and also knocked Adamek out and minus 1 punch Adamek did NOTHING.

Cunningham won most of the round, not all of the round - which wins him the round itself, but, he was knocked down, so he loses a point. 9-9.

Not always, though nine times out of ten I'll give it 10-8 to the man who scores the knockdown. If the person is brutalized through the rest of the round they wouldn't get the extra point, but likely would get it 10-9.
