Pulling out of the Larsen fight to preserve the Adamek fight was the one missed fight that I could agree with Solis doing. I wanted to see him take the Larsen and Adamek fights but I understood his reasoning for not going through with Larsen.

Not being in the IBF tournament was managerial issues I thought and I'm not sure where the blame lays for the Adamek situation. But if its Solis himself or people close to him it still seems he's moving his career backwards right now. He's had some nice oppurtunities come his way this year and they've fallen through. With Solis's age, lack of fan base and lack of work ethic he could have a hard time getting in this position again.

I'm not sure where is the common thread but there seems to be trouble like this for a lot of the top Cuban fighters right now. Solis, Gamboa, Perez, all seem to be sending their careers the wrong way. Its too bad since they all have talent and are wasting a lot of their peak years. I really thought Solis would beat Adamek and then look to challenge Wlad sometime next year. He is one of the few heavyweights who have a shot at upsetting him but who knows if he ever gets a chance.

He has a shot at beating Wlad based on what? Certainly nothing he's done as a professional. The Olympics were a long time ago. And about 100 pounds ago.

Adamek would have beaten this fat moron to a pulp. Solis barely got by a totally shot Ray Austin for f*ck's sake.

Feed Solis to Price or Helenius and they'll end his joke of a career for him.

Adamek's camp is calling shots here. They must have a better deal on the table.

Solis is the most overrated heavyweight in boxing. There is this big belief in him among some people that he's never done a thing to justify. He won an Olympic medal -- great, so did Fraudley Harrison.

Only James Toney's fans rival the Solis gang for delusion.

You mean the 4 man tournament Adamek was supposed to be in?

Maybe Ahmet the Ferret realized his guy had no chance, which was true. I was totally looking forward to Adamek destroying the overrated Cuban pig.

Yeah, if I remember right Solis was part of it as well but pulled out due to managerial problems.

I would clearly make Wlad a favortie over Solis(even an in shape one) but he has a better chance than most at upsetting Wlad. Obviusly, he'd have to become more active and get in much better shape and if someone wants to say that will never happens than I definitely wouldn't argue with that since it seems Solis will go down as wasted talent. But, if Solis did take his careeer and training more serious than he does have the tools to pull an upset over Wlad.

That's certainly arguable. Even if the Cuban was at his very best Wlad would be very difficult for Solis.

But you're right in that it appears that Solis, who has often said he doesn't even like boxing and just does it for money, is never going to give it an honest effort as a professional. And when you spend year upon year wasting your talent, one day you wake up and that talent is gone, no matter what you try to do to get it back. Solis is at that point now -- the point of no return.

I mean, here's a guy who blew out a knee partly because of his obesity and the stress he puts on his joints, and he comes back after a long time out at the second highest weight of his career!

There's no helping a guy like that.

I'm gonna side with Solis' team on this one. Wasn't Duva or someone saying they had Solis lined up, but they had a back up plan just in case. That sounds suspicious to me.

Sounds like common sense to me. They are in business, you know. They have to plan for the unexpected.

I just spoke with Solis camp, just now.
They found out right now about the cancelation. Solis is training in altitude with Cotto. Adamek camp is the one canceling a fight vs Solis.
Again; Solis just found out - almost I was the one delivering the news to him- about the cancelation.
    Thoughts ?
