I would never count out Hopkins. Never.

At any rate Adamek would not 'kick his old ass', no way.

Considering Adamek can swing with both hands in the laters rounds (even after being hurt) he seems to be a handfull for even Hopkins! Hopkins had Pavlik in his palms (to be honest, much smaller and not tested) so why not step up instead of down and take Adamek on!

I do appreciate Hopkins, but both Calzaghe, Pavlik & Wright had to move up! It seems like a cliche but why not take on a challenge instead of picking on "smaller guys"? Bring on a weighted challenge? He has proved his class beating similar weight class challengers but now it seems to be in his advantage....

Hopkins is really a 160 lb fighter and Cal is really a 168 lb fighter, so that doesn't work. He and Pav are really the same weight. That argument can be made for Winky only. But Hokins is 44 years old. He doesn't need to step up against anyone. All of our favorite fighters will likely be 10 years past their prime at his age and will have been retired for years. Everytime he steps in the ring, he's making history. Considering how old he is, everyone he fights should have the advantage.

Absolutely, point taken. I will never take anything away from Hopkins past history but he was a 160'r three years ago. They all "cake on the weight" and now he has weight to consider. My point is, why "drag" lighter fighters up? He is amazing - 44 years old - seriously a specimen - but keep it real. Hopkins, what is there to gain? He has a seriuous bank balance and a good record. Calzaghe had him clearly and he is not exactly a spring chicken!

But he was no Hopkins. That was Calzaghe's big moment and fight. That was to cement his legacy. 168 and 190 are considered lesser weight divisions. Fighting Hopkins helped legitamize his career. If Hops wins the cruiser belt, I won't think much of it. Historically that has been a sorry weight division. He moved up to 175 and destroyed Tarver. There is nothing left for him to prove. He's one of the best p4p at the age of 44. If he fights Adamek, it will simply be for the sake of competition. He has won titles in the divisions with all the history. In the case of fighting Winky, he was dragging up a lighter fighter, but the same cannot be said about Cal and Pav.
