This is ****ing ridiculous. The 70's were so God-damned overrated. I'm not even an Adamek fan, but this is preposterous.

 

Adamek has balls the size of church bells! He earned his shot at the title unlike so many others. It's time other fighter earn their shots at the titles, not just given the shot by their promoters................

Somewhat deceptive post this. Adamek really only found his ideal fighting weight at the Cruisers, prior to that he was draining himself pretty badly. This was certainly the case against Dawson where his passive non-performance cannot entirely be laid at Dawson's hands.

 

The only guys out of that list that definitely beat Adamek are Holmes, Foreman, Ali. I guess that makes Adamek a top 10 70s HW.

I'd say he gets beat by a couple more names on that list, but what cracks me up is his thinking that Tex Cobb could ever beat Adamek. Mr human punchbag with a mullet. FFS.

 

Are you actually serious? Frazier, Holmes, Ali, Foreman, Shavers, Norton, Lyle, Bonavena, and Cooney all tear Adamek a new *******.

 

Shavers? He was beaten by a lot worse than Adamek in his career.

 

Styles make fights. Adamek was an incredibly weak Heavyweight. His stamina was virtually non existant, and he was wobbled by every glancing shot Vitali landed.

Adamek getting chased and mauled around the ring by a shot to **** Michael Grant. Shavers would have put him in hospital.

He might have done, or he might have got knocked out. Guy was inconsistent like that. One thing he wasn't however, was six feet eight and 260lbs, so I'm not sure what your comparison to Grant was meant to represent.

 

Who did Adamek even knockout as a heavyweight? Shot to pieces Andrew Golota? I always felt people were giving Adamek too much credit for his performances at Heavyweight. He was truly awful. He got tired after 8-9 rounds, he was wobbled easily, and his punches had very little effect on the half decent fighters he came up against. Shavers would bully Adamek around the ring, and every shot that would land, if he wasn't rendered unconscious as a result, would have shaken his boots. Then it's survival mode.
