Adamek is really on the Ken Norton level of fighters.

Shavers fought around 210lbs in his prime which is the ring weight of many cruisers today. Only fair to include Adamek's CW wins in the argument.

Slavic HW in 2012 vs American HW 1970's

How different boxing history would have been if the wall was not there ?

With all those Olympic medal winners that couldnt fight professinaly I bet some of these big 70's names you mention wouldnt be so big. Keep betting against the Slavs. Have a good day.

Yeah, who did he knockout at Cruiserweight? Nobody of special note. Adamek has more ability than Shavers, but he wouldn't have been nearly strong enough at that weight to have weathered the artillery Shavers had. I just don't see it. Grant may have been a big dude, but he didn't have anything else going for him on that night. Adamek looked slow, tired, and he ran for his life any time a shot got through. Shavers would have put him to sleep.

Not so much the opponents but what Adamek was doing to them. He had one shot power against Cruisers and nobody ever considered Shavers an iron-chinned fighter. I'm not saying either man would win categorically, but to write Adamek off completely based on his performance against a fighter who shares almost nothing in common with Shavers is foolish.

    Or maybe:

    "Knocked off balance!

    After one jab!!"

Based on virtually every fight he had at Heavyweight. He continually struggled taking shots from big, strong guys. Shavers wasn't 6'4 and weighing 240lbs, but we know that he punched a lot harder than Grant. I also think for single shots, he punched a lot harder than Vitali does, who had Adamek on ***** street any time he landed even partially.

Only a matter of time before Shavers lands, and then it's Adamek in survival mode. For me, anyhow.

Quarry had Shavers out in one round and Adamek isn't that far off in attributes or punching power IMO. It's simplistic to think Shavers just walks through Adamek's punches before landing his own. Like I said, look at Adamek's CW fights to see that Adamek was far from a feather fisted puncher, and he could definitely stop Shavers. Or Shavers could stop him. Not clear cut either way.

Adamek is about on the level of Ken Norton, that's correct. A mediocre challenger, nothing else.

Ken Norton - if he fought today - would be a random nobody in the heavyweight division. He'd get a title shot or two, lose and then disappear.

Norton's chin would let him down against most HW today...

Quarry>Adamek too. Quarry would've won a decision over Adamek.

Adamek may have won a belt in 90s, but he would not have held it for long

Not with Tyson, Bowe, Holyfield, Lewis coming after him.
Then theres the second tier of Morrison, Mercer, Moorer, Tua etc

Then again, Golota didnt win **** either

Looking at some of the poorer heavy 'champs' of the 90s, could adamek beat them?

How would adamek do against Bruno, Mcall, Seldon, Old Foreman
