He won the IBO belt. I will give that. One of my favorites RJJ sorta lost fighting for that title. Let me just say this, you cant compare any other cruiserweight to Haye he was just so dominate in beating guys like Jean Mormeck,Fragomni, and Enzo.
If you are impressed by a guy moving up in weight and fighting contenders then Adamek is your man. Whoopty do. But accctually David Haye deserved a Heavyweight title shot when he moved up in weight because he was undisputed at CW. So he didnt need to fight any contenders after moving up.
In terms of CW's within the last decade or so Gomez, Jirov, & Adamek are all former CW Champions that i would favor to beat Haye. So yes, yes you can. btw beating Fragomeni and Enzo isn't some enormous accomplishment.
Adamek is a good fighter, but he is no David Haye. Lets put it that way. Haye won a considerable amount of more titles than Adamek did at Cruiserweight thats the differance! When you are undisputed, you call the shots.
You're an idiot Haye beat Mormeck (WBA WBC) Enzo (WBO) Gurov, Frag (i don't care what Bonin's record was he is a terrible fighter) Adamek beat Bell, Cunningham (IBF), Banks and picked up the IBO Their wins and difficulty of opponents are basically the same - Version of Bell Adamek beat was certainly as good a win as ****ing Enzo - I'd say Banks is as if not more dangerous as Frag especially considering his punching power (haye's kryptonite) - Cunn & Mormeck while being formitable for different reasons are equally good wins. Adamek made 2 title defences. Haye Beat Mormeck then had the unification With Enzo and made no defences while not facing Cunn and leaving the division, what a 'reign' at CW. Adamek accomplished the same amount in about a year 1/2 what took Haye his entire Pro career. Anything i overlooked?
i think that's a silly post. they're both excellent fighters and both proved a lot in a limited amount of time at that weight (at world level). Adamek outclassed Bell, and Bell is the first undisputed cruiser champ since Holyfield. Then he beat Cunningham, a tough, classy champion in his prime. Then stopped Banks, a prospect with size and power on his side. While Adamek beat dangerous Americans, Haye basically did it against Europeans. I would count Gurov, a former world title challenger (WBC ranking). Frago, exciting, future WBC holder. Obviously Mormeck, the camp at the time. And Maccarinelli, the FW hype. It looks like Haye did a bit more, but a) don't forget Adamek was also a WBC champ at light heavyweight. and b) i don't think any of the guys Haye beat were as good as Cunningham. Both Haye and Adamek had chance to fight a variety of styles. Both took risky fights before they even got a world cruiser title shot, both are 2-weight champs, both defended their titles vs the biggest available puncher on Shotime/ShoBox (first defense for each). Both even battered a Polish heavyweight. Similar careers, same level. Let's clarify the # of titles. Adamek won the one that counted, as Haye did. When Adamek beat Cunningham, Cunningham was #1 at the weight and Adamek was #2. It was for the prestigious Ring title; obviously Haye took the Ring title from Mormeck. Haye did take Macca's WBO title, but Haye wasn't particularly bothered about that belt, which I'm sure he considers a Frank Warren bauble.
to be fair haye became his own promoter and relied on TV money from setanta sports, who were going bust. so haye didn't have his contract, and was very much on the outside, and after fights with the klitschlos didn't happen, it looked very bad for him...it needs to be made clear that haye always stayed away from the big promoters such as frank warren; he's his own man and does it his own way. haye did want to fight a top contender, but he could only get barrett. he's done well to sort himself out, talk himself into a valuev fight, sell 800,000 PPVs in the UK and get his career back on track. he has the WBA belt, and let's face it: this is a prize that adamek wants, and wants badly. OK, haye started boxing a weight higher than adamek, so it is only natural that haye would get there first. but haye HAS achieved something that adamek wants to achieve. haye didn't look great but considering he beat valuev away from home, and considering the layoff, plus the fact he never fougth a big heavyweight to prepare, haye has proven his abilities as a professional. i CAN see why the troll has come on here, because haye isn't being given much credit, if any.
i know adamek is eyeing his money fight, arreola. but i want to ask: is there a way he could get back down to 200-pounds, let's say if he beat arreola and has to wait fr a heavyweight title shot. or if the arreola fight doesn't happen. could he get down to 200-pounds, if a big money fight vs danny green in australia is offered? given the amount he has bulked up recently (220+ pounds). just curious about this.
Good post. If we're being technical though Haye's WBA is an interim at best. Klitschko took the WBA belt when he beat Chagaev.
From the fan point of view that fight is pointless , green is nobody outside australia , and adamek could hurt himself by losing that much weight ,I dont even think that adamek team is considering such moves right now like moving down back to cruiser , they look and sound so excited about putting more muscles on adamek ,how he keeps his speed and how he'll be the next heavyweight champ that wasting time on losing weight and then adding it again just cuz of single fight which doesnt add anything to adameks legacy is doubtfull ,
