You just said this which i agree with After he got massacred against Vitali im sure he wanted no part of Vova. How he did against Chambers and USS is irrelevant of that yet he still entered the IBF tournament with no intention of following through and ****ing others over in the process.
I don't know that he did. You know how fighters are. They wax and wane when they try to rationalise and psych themselves up. Excusing himself after Vitali, convincing himself that he matches up differently with Volo or it just wasn't his night with Vitali, that he's sprung back with Chambers, whatever. I'm not going to pretend I know his mind, but since his pattern up to this point was to take hard fights, including a ridiculous challenge with Vitali, then why would I assume first that he never really intended on going through with the eliminator? Yeah, I wish he'd arrived at the decision earlier, and I agree he's held people up and it's a mistake on his part. I just don't assume he wasn't going through with it and judge him harshly for it is all.
This. Of course. The good news is, now Pulev will probably have to fight someone better. If by some miracle, Fury doesn't duck Jennings, I'd love to see Pulev fight the winner of THAT bout. Then that winner becomes the obvious next opponent for WLad. Oh lord, what am I saying? Top contenders fighting each other? What was I thinking?
He knows his time at the top is done. He's coming off back to back losses and pulev is red hot right now. Atleast pulev should be free for a wlad fight now. Get the mando out of the way.
As Pulev fan I'm disappointed for several reasons. First it was a very good fight money wise, second he was going to KO Adamek and gain valuable experience against top fighter. I really think that Adamek realize that he can not cope with Pulev at this point.
Adamek is a warrior, but at this point, I wish he'd just go away and call it quits. He's well past his best, has no power at heavyweight, taken a lot of damage, and was the beneficiary of two bad robberies in his last two fights. Cunningham and Chambers deserved those victories. Really hope he doesn't manage to get a title shot if he isn't willing to fight eliminators and top contenders any longer to get one.
No shock here, I don't know too many who actually thought Adamek would actually fight Pulev. Adamek would be a huge underdog and can make good money against easier guys. He claims he's fighting in Poland so I guess he could end up facing Szpilka or Sosnowski and I wouldn't be surprised if he faced the Golota-Saleta winner. He could also stay busy, fight lesser guys, and get a shot at Wlad anyways-no need for him to face Pulev to get a Wlad fight. I see Pulev is saying he wants to make a defense of his EBU belt while he waits for the IBF to sort everything out. I would prefer to see Pulev have to beat someone else to get his shot. Jennings is the next highest rated and thats a very interesting fight.
There was a rumor (don't know if true) that HBO was interested in Adamek vs Banks rematch and that means big money for Tomasz. Adamek fought Banks already and won so it might be a better option for him. Maybe that's how they look at this. Time will tell...
Why did he enter the eliminator in the first place if he never had the intention of fighting Pulev? Surely Pulev wasn't more financially attractive back then than he is today?
Disappointing, but the money probably was going to suck for this fight. Money talks. We can judge all we want as fans but you can only blame the system. Until boxing operates under one sanctioning body, which will basically never happen, this is a business much more than a sport.
