Word is that newly crowned IBF cruiserweight champion Tomas Adamek (36-1, 24 KOs) of Poland will make the first defense of his title against world ranked challenger Jonathan Banks (20-0, 14 KOs). The bout would take place February 27th at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey and be aired live on a special edition of SHOWTIMEÂ’s acclaimed ShoBox series. Adamek won the title at the same venue on December 11th, dethroning champion Steve Cunningham in front of a large Polish crowd. Banks was to fight Enzo Maccarinelli for the vacant WBO belt in December, but had to pull out with an ankle injury. From fightnews.
So did I maybe Banks thinks more reward will come from beating Adamek and not much negative from losing to him He loses to Le' Big Macc he's a bum :hey
i aree buhat makes me respect banks for wanting to take on the best rather then taking an easier route to the top
Johnathon Banks, the last of the unbeaten original Kronk Gym fighters. This could be a tough test for Adamek. I like how he is not targetting scrubs in the lower end of his top 15 like Monrose, Hide, etc, but highly ranked contenders like Flores (IBF #2), Braithwaite (IBF #5) and Banks (WBO #1).
Adamek is THE MAN! He's said in the past that he fears no man...only his wife & God. The guy really defines the meaning of "Warrior". Boxing needs more fighters with his attitude. :happy
Adamek is not gonna be champ for long! The reason why he is champ right now because he has a steel chin! Enzo mac is the better fighter and hes gonn pick up what haye left after he stepped up!
