Absolutely. This weekend is just one of one hundred examples. Devon Alexander and Tim Bradley. $30 Foxtel and $50 Austar. It's on regular HBO in the States and I have no doubt it'll be on regular Sky Sports on the UK. I like when Main Event try and cover all bases and show fights on delay and still charge full price for it...

Tell me about it boys...been saying for ages that i dont mind the odd super fight being on PPV, but these cards like Alexander vs Bradley should be live on normal FOX Sports or at least a same day tape delay.
They dont show us any international boxing unless its on a PPV event.:patsch:fire:fire

Ohh wait they may show us the odd Top Rank card on a 2 month delay. WOW!

I wonder if anything will ever change, it's quite an expensive sport to follow having to fork out $50 for every decent fight. I just worked out if i get 1 fight on main event a month for a year (that's $600), that's more than it costs for my cronulla sharks membership and membership at my local golf course combined for a year (about $500).

For sure. If Pacquiao is lining up against Martinez for his 59th title in as many weight classes or against Floyd, by all means make it a PPV. But Amir Khan v Marcos Maidana on delay? Stick it up your arse. It takes something special for me to give my hard earned over to Main Event these days.

The last card I bought was Pacquiao v Cotto. I'll watch at the pub or catch it later for zip. Gone are the days of paying for Tyson v Orlin Norris! I'd sooner buy an Aussie PPV when our promoters try and bring over some names.

    Totally agree.:deal
I mean if they had just 6 or so overseas PPV's a year say....& the rest of the major 25 international cards were shown on FOX Sports LIVE or a slight day tape delay in the longterm they would get WAYYY more people buying those 6 or so PPV's as the interest in the overall sport would be increased greatly.
If only they knew how to market their product.:patsch

Adamek should stay in the Cruiser Division he can't compare and is no challenge for the Klitcho Brothers

He is fighting at heavy because he can make a shitload more money there. The cruiserweight division is and has always been a ghost town.

I'm not looking for numbers at all, I wouldn't know where to start. You seem to have all the figures, that's why I asked you for them. :deal

I'm certain both were PPV's, I recall going to the local to see both, I only do that if I feel it's worth seeing but not worth the $40-$50. :yep

Why are some fights free worldwide, but PPV in OZ?
Sure, much of what is PPV shouldn't be, however more of it is worth it.

You ignored the rest of my post, so I assume you agreed with it. :p

Oh BTW, if it's on Fox Sports, we're still paying for it to a degree.
It's not PPV, but it also ain't FTA.

Not just some fights, the vast majority. Alright, by your definition it's not free because you have to have Pay TV, but that's splitting hairs. It's a service the vast majority of people pay for these days.

We're fed a mountain of **** here in Australia. The Klitschko brothers aren't PPV fighters anywhere else in the world. Not too many fighters are. Obviously Klitschko v Haye will be, though whether it is in the States or not, remains to be seen.

I'm not sure what else you wanted me to answer... The Klits cleaned out the majority of their division, so it can't be on PPV? TV companies just don't pay for their fights mate, full stop. Even in Germany it's on RTL, a commercial service.

Hey Ippy, any answer to my previous post querying where you got these numbers from?

Huge figures if correct and I'd be interested to see how concrete they are.

    800,000 buys @ 19.95 (GBP) = 15,960,000
    700,000 buys @ 19.95 (GBP) = 13,965,000
    600,000 buys @ 19.95 (GBP) = 11,970,000

    Total: 41,895,000 (GBP)

Are you trying to say Ippy that David Haye has totalled over 41,000,000 in PPV sales (homes) in his last three fights?

I'm assuming 19.95 for a PPV 'buy' there as some of the UK's PPV's range even as low as 14.95 (GBP) (Obviously this figure could be greater also)

    *GBP = Great British Pound

Plus live gate takings where I assume he's done 5,000 per venue (only assumption) at approx. average - 100 (GBP) = 15,000 total = 1,500,000

Say he's on 50/50 with SKY Box Office, that's a gross result in excess of 22,000,000 (GBP) in his sky rocket (less show expenses, etc)

Tidy result if figures are khoser.

Just off a few boxing and media sites mate. I just googled and did some reading. I enjoy reading about the business side of the sport, each to their own. I do think that PPV's are only £15 over there, could be wrong. Not bad numbers though are they?

Their outstanding figures if correct. I have been over in the UK before and seen 14.95 GBP PPV's, but made the assumption that Haye would be getting at least 19.95 GBP (and wouldn't surprise if greater actually).

I think (and don't quote me) that Frank Warren's 'Magnificent 7' card late last year was a 29.95 GBP but certainly wouldn't have pulled the type's of figures your noting for Haye.

The Magnificent 7 card was 1 of the best British cards i had seen in recent times.
    Outstanding figures by Haye alright.:good
