I never even knew this fight happened. Was it as one-sided as the scorecards suggested? Was maybe going to buy it on dvd. I know it was at light heavy-weight and it certainly hasn't stopped Adamek from going on to great things at cruiserweight. You learn something new everyday.
it was pretty on sided, Adamek simply didnt have much to answer for Dawson fast hands and combinations. Ada managed to floor Dawson 2 times but that was pretty much he did in that fight. Daw clearly dominated Ada..
basically this fight was a DREAM come true for most of us. Bad chad basically whooped him. Adamek came strong and knocked him down which led many to believe chad has a weak chin. What they forgot, however, was that adamek was NO ****ING SLOUCH. and this is very apparent in his campagin at cruiser right now. He beat supernova, cunningham, banks, hes a beast. I have always said in here that the knockdown chad suffered made him look better to me because it showed he had heart and could get up and still get back to work. People in here still believe he sucks though, and I dont know how the hell you can make that conclusion to the FUTURE #1 P4P. He will be the future p4p star , and everyone in here needs to recognize.
Only one KD, towards the end of the fight. Maybe in the 9th or 10th round. It was really the only time Adamek showed life in that fight. Dawson looked dominant, but Adamek was no where near his best. That much was clear. A debate ensued after this fight, whether Dawson forced Adamek to look so weak, with his speed advantage, fluid Paul Williams-like combination punching and southapaw stance (and would therefore likely do it again 9 rematches out of 10) or whether extranous forces were at work that undermined Adamek's performance (mainly weight issues but also conflict with his career long trainer and having McGirt instead, whom he did not understand because he speaks no English). This debate was never really settled, but most would admit that Adamek looked out of it for the entire fight. The safest conclusion is to give Chad his props and hope for a rematch , hopefully at Cruiser.
You are thinking about the time Adamek went down from that body shot. But they say his legs got tied up.
I love the ***** euro excuses. Adamek was out of it and weight drained and he only came out for the last few rounds. Well, if he was truly weight drained and weak he would not of had the energy to fight in the later rounds. The two do not match. Not to mention the fight was at a fast pace and if he was so severly drained he would of got stopped on the abuse he took to the body. Dawson slowed down in the later rounds and got too confident and comfortable allowing Adamek to get off the 1,2.
He was weight drained, there were reports before the fight that he had a very hard time making weight and he himself said so in a interview before the fight. I blame him / his management though, it was always apparant that he was too big for LHW, he should have went up earlier and I still give props to Dawson for beating him in such a one-sided fight.
Dawson always outboxes Adamek, he is faster, longer reach and a combination puncher. Adamek had a wrong game plan. Instead of trying to box Dawson he should have slug it with him, he realised that in the later rounds but it was too late. Also, another thing to notice is that Adamek had Buddy Mcgirt in his corner for this fight and you know what his advices are. He always wants his guys to be patient and try to outbox their opponent, sometimes its not the best strategy. Similar case was when he told Brewster to try to box with Liachovic and was yelling at him when he threw wild punches in one of the rounds.
Anybody who has seen Adamek fight knows that was not his style, nor his fashion in the Dawson fight. He lost fair and square, but Dawson didnt beat a 100% Adamek. Since then, he has come back and proven himself against the top CWs, including a slick and rangy guy like Cunningham.. who many believed was similar to Dawson and would hand Adamek his ass.
