Agreed. good post Also the way Arreola punches with his wide shots will be an advantage for Adamek, he'll come right down the pipe with 3 or 4 straight, fast shots. I really think he'll hurt Arreola with exactly that. Arreola trying to brawl, coming in wreckless with wide punches & Adamek planting his feet and throwing 3 or 4 quick shots down the middle hurting him. Adamek has decent footwork and will be able to evade alot of Chris's pressure with that alone. I can see that frustrating Chris and when he does get oppertunities to land he'll be over aggressive and careless defensivly (and perhaps a little too arrogant, thinking the former LHW can't hurt him)
Which is why I think Arreola will win. He's not old and slow like Golota was. But I agree it should be a great fight.
The more skilled fighter will win most times in these types of matchups. Adamek matches up with all of Arreola's strengths (power, chin, punch speed, heart) plus brings in additional dimensions that Chris simply lacks (technique, combination punching, more speed, endurance). For all those that say size will be the difference I say: a) the size difference in terms of height and reach is negligible (only weight which is detrimental to Arreola anyway) b) Arreola doesn't have a clue how to use his size. Save for a hail mary, Adamek takes this on the cards by a wide but fun UD. Adamek is still a question mark at HW though. Expect those questions to be answered in FEB against what I believe is a very motivated version of Estrada fighting a cross roads fight. Question: Why can't most HW fighters be as active and gutsy as Adamek and Arreola?
Adamek is quality, but he tends to excessively pick his spots and spend alot of time waiting. Arreola has the edge in sense of urgency and activity by good distance - and natural size. I'm still undecided.
I'm starting to really like Adamek. This is ballsy. Don't kid yourselves about Arreola being an some easily out-boxed non-threat. Because Adamek is not Vitali. Name the fighters in the division who have Vitali's combination of size and skill. It's not like anybody can do to Chris what VK did. And as far as the weight is concerned, nobody is thrilled with it but Chris would pretty much be the same fighter even if he were 220, imo. His defense is his offense and that'll work with most heavyweights today because he can take the punches and land them with authority and skill with stamina a fatass shouldn't even have. Of course with that style, he'll burn out before some heavies even mature, I bet. Either way, this is a good question mark match-up to me.
He's done it more than once now. Its what Gorals do. But because I think Estrada will be game, this will be his toughest string of closely scheduled fights, no doubt. :ko Now, let's see some propaganda. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBgQcyI8sBg[/ame]
Estrada, even if he is not world-class fighter, is a very tough guy to knock down. He is short and his center of gravity is really low. Its reverse situtation to the fight with Cunningham, who was easy to KD, because of his body characteristic.
In Adamek vs Arreola chins, speed and footwork might be the clue to win the fight. Its why I type Adamek, because he is faster and his footwork is better. Althought I think Arreola's chin is better, so Adamek must fight very smart to avoid Arreola's strongest punches. In one of his las interviews Adamek said that he is as fast as he used to be in the lower weight classes, but he is able to see more punches and avoid them.
adamek had some urgency in his fast paced war with talented, tough, steve cunningham...those quick well timed knockdown punches, which decided the fight, certainly had some urgency. i see what you mean, he is methodical, and measured. but he can also be fast, and i reckon he'll be faster than most heavyweights
Yeah, I don't know why people admire that performance so much. He survived the full fight but was totally shut out in every round, did not take sufficient risks during the fight and then bawled his eyes out. It wasn't a cowardly or embarassing fight for him but neither can it be considered admirable or even memorable. I think Adamek can do much better.
