adamek's an outstanding fighter. but povetkin is bad news. povetkin was in poor shape for chambers, but found a way to win. and he looked in bad shape for estrada, coming off a layoff. props to adamek, as he is always in shape AND stays busy - and he's done more with his career than povetkin: he didn't hesitate when he'd won the elim fights, he didn't mince when he'd earned his chance. but i believe povetkin is a special talent, a natural heavyweight, with fast hands, great core strength which allows him to march forward when hurt/tired, and a very precise technician in the ring. when povetkin comes to his peak, arreola will be a picnic compared to povetkin. i will be really impressed if adamek stops estrada. let's see if he can outdo povetkin's performance vs estrada (which wasn't so great, admittedly). i think adamek's an outstanding figher, but i think povetkin is a future heavyweight great. i wouldn't be surprised if adamek won a heavyweight title before povetkin, but i think a top shape povetkin - and he'll have to be in top shape from now on - will beat adamek, in a great fight.
I think Arreola is ALOT more dangerous than some guys on here seem to think he is. Adamek might very well box his drawers off, and I know he has beefed up a bunch, but if he eats one of Arreola's good shots, the fight could turn and be over in 2 shakes of a lamb's tail. Can't wait to watch this one.
what will adamek do if arreola's ppl duck him? would he look to go the mandatory route - probably WBA - vs boytsov/chagaev/ustinov? if this happens, hopefully boytsov as he's powerful, solid, a bit slow and very exciting with hurtful short punches.
povetkin has great skills. look how he finds room for short punches inside, when it looks like there is no room. look how he finds the angles, how he feints opponents out of position. heavyweights don't normally have skills like that. povetkin just needs to keep fit and hungry.
wasn't povetkin a bit lucky in that fight? when he won the gold medal? i rate him as a pro, and feel he's translated extremely well. much more compact than most eastern european fighters. back to arreola. adamek just needs to get close, land his shots, get out. and repeat. i believe he's tough, experienced and fast enough to do this. arreola will be a doddle compared to povetkin. i like the look of povetkin on here, the latest fight with nolan. look at those combos, look how relaxed he is: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZvp-LvL1JI[/ame] damn, it makes your mouth foam, to see recent performances of adamek, povetkin, boytsov. the fights that these guys could have, in a year or two...
looking bac at the golota fight again, i know you can't read too much into it. but it is good to see adamek's handspeed, and also footwork. look how he keeps taking a half step to the side, or back, never allowing the bigger man to set his feet. some very neat movement and punching by adamek. iklike it how all his knockdown punches are always NATURAL punches. the knockdowns come naturally. he doesn't force it; the opponent gets broken down and eventually, suddenly, drops. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmPHF1NvQ88&NR=1[/ame] got to like the look of boytsov, even if his last foe was no good. these smaller heavyweights are going to have some great fights, soon. Its true. Whats is similar between Adamek and Povetkin is that they both like to make pressure. They just go forward and threw some combinations then step back. I think that Povetkin is a better technician boxer, and Adamek has better stamina and footwork.
Yes, and Adamek knows it. The best example are Klitscko bros. They are pretty skillful, but they are boring as hell. :hey
i agree. the biggest difference is that adamek is always fit, and seems to have the so-called eye of the tiger. povetkin, with his german promoters and german TV deal, has a more cozy living it would seem. so far, anyway. has povetkin got that fanatical will to win, that adamek has? will adamek still have it, if he gets the heavyweight title and the HBO contract?
Their combined record could be 100-0 with 100 KO's but the fact is the only fights that weren't boring are Lewis-Vitali and Vitali-Sanders.
Everybody's asleep by the time the other guy quits. Seriously Vitali is alright but Wlad is a bit more boring.
