Say they meet at an agreed upon catch weight. Who wins and why? I think Adamek wins big.

Calzaghe. he would overwhelm Adamek with his superior workrate and speed.

    What catch weight? :think

Joe certainly has no business at or near 200, and Adamek is ill-advised to tackle another fast skilled boxer at light heavyweight.

Just cut it right down the middle and say 187.5?

Joe wouldn't go anywhere near 200 regardless of the weight. He walks around at around that, maybe a bit less, so with training it would be impossible to maintain.

You know, Adamek is like a much inferior version of Kessler that is way easier to hit. Bigger and stronger, but slower too.

    Calzaghe would win on points.

Adamek is more of a Kessler/Andrade hybrid actually. A couple of good and bad qualities from each. :yep

I won't count Calzaghe out, but I think the comparison between Adamek and Kessler is wrong, and in no way applicable. Firstly, I'm not sure that Adamek is slower than Kessler-I think he's actually quicker. Secondly, Adamek is much more fluid than Kessler and throws much better combinations. He also packs a lot more power, and I would certainly argue that he has a better beard, as well. Even if Adamek's style did resemble Kessler's, he is in NO ****ING WAY inferior to Kessler. That is laughable.

I have no doubt that Adamek would beat the **** out of Kessler. In fact, I think he would probably knock him out, too.

Adamek might be easier to hit than Kessler, but I'm not sure it would matter much, because he hits much harder than him, too. If Hopkins and Jones can drop Calzaghe, I can only imagine the type of damage that Adamek would be capable of inflicting upon him. And if this fight happened at a catch weight, I sincerely believe Adamek wins and wins big.

Not really. We're thinking more about size than skill as usual. This has been a big mistake recently.

Adamek is in no way quicker than Kessler. He's open and easily hit, Calzaghe would slap the **** out of him with his speed advantage and the defence of Adamek.

Besides, Adamek is on the small side of cruiser. You've got Haye on one side of the scale, Adamek is nothing near it. He came up from LHW after all, if he was that huge of a puncher he could have knocked out the questionably chinned Dawson. I don't think his power is a huge concern for Calzaghe, as it would be for a cruiser like Haye. And what other advantages does he have? Calzaghe is faster, has more variety, is a better inside fighter, and is a much greater ring general.

call me crazy, but if adameck beats enzo mac, it could really set this fight up good

could be a big possibility of the joe fight happening, maybe at a catchweight of 190 or somewhere there

Depends on the weight, maybe. I don't know how Calzaghe performs past Light Heavyweight, but at the weight I would favour Calzaghe.

Fair answer. Frankly, I think too many people are overlooking a key aspect of this hypothetical--that this would be at a catch weight. I'm surprised so many are willing to give Calzaghe such an edge in this one. In Adamek, I believe he will have finally met his match.

Adamek looks gunshy against southpaws, but Calzaghe's chin seems to be a bit more questionable as he faces bigger punchers. I'd guess Calzaghe UD, but Adamek KO wouldn't surprise me.

Adamek - Maccarinelli is an excellent fight, maybe one for the future if/when Maccarinelli beats Banks.

Two stand up type boxers. Both can brawl uneccessarily at times. Adamek has the better chin. Looks to me Maccarinelli is the harder puncher and I prefer his 12 round stamina.
