You know when I first saw the heading, I was thinking WTF Calzaghe would kill that guy...But as i opened and was thinking about my comments I started to think you know that would be a helluva fight, Joe isnt a puncher despite what his fans would have you think, and Adamek isnt a slow plodder, he isnt a fluid fighter but he does have pretty good handspeed...I dont know, i think that Joe would win but I think that it would be abit more interesting then some would admitt.

I think Joes speed and general awkwardness pull through. Adamek isnt a genius and it would take long before Calzaghe gets into his rythm and boxes his way to a decision win.

    Good fight I think.

Joe is too fast. Adamek wouldn't be able to touch him. He would give Adamek a boxing lesson much like Dawson did, only Joe would do it for 12 rds instead of just 9 since he is a more seasoned and focused fighter with better stamina and a much better beard. I don't think it would be close. I think it would CW's version of Baldomir vs Mayweather.

Catchweight would be better for Joe, but I dont see joe taking to many shots cleanly anyway. Id insist in 180/185 if I promoted Joe though. Calz realisticaly would wanna come in just above light heavy limit.

Good post! I would NEVER count Calzaghe out against anyone south of heavyweight, but I think Adamek matches up against him much better than people think, and regardless of outcome, I think we'd have a great fight on our hands!

Wow, Adamek is still being grossly underrated around here. I'm hard-pressed to see odds-makers sharing the views of many held on this site.

I think you're grossly overrating him based on last night's performance which was anything but dominant. He looked slower than Cunningham who seemed to forget how to box last night, but was still able to hit him at will when tried to. Lucky for Adamek that Cunningham doesn't have much pop and isn't really that fast. Have you watched Adamek's fight against Dawson at a weight where he should be faster than he is know? If that's what Dawson can do to him, realize that Calzaghe is just as fast, if not faster, has twice the output, better stamina, better defense, better chin, and better poise than the young Dawson. He would reduce Adamek to simply having a puncher's chance.

No. I cannot be arsed to dig it up now, but I made a similar post like this years ago. I have always maintained that Adamek would beat Calzaghe, and last night just reinforced that long-held belief.
Likewise, Adamek didn't miss too often when he pressed forward and flurried, and I don't think he looked all too much slower than Cunningham.
He's not much slower than Calzaghe, and at 200 pounds, I guarantee he hits harder than Calzaghe.
I agree that Calzaghe is better than Dawson (although not faster). I agree he has better stamina, a better chin, and better poise (*but not better defense). Regardless, at a catch weight, I maintain Adamek would hurt Calzaghe and do so repeatedly. I believe he stops him.

    You thought wrong.

No he isn't and no he doesn't.

He has more power, no evidence of a difference in chin, and no it is not laughable, Kessler is the better boxer and has never been outclassed. He has lost once after winning the early rounds and won the last round against one of the top 3 p4p fighters on the planet.

Adamek was thrashed by Dawson and scraped past Briggs.

You also had no doubt that Paulie would thrash Hatton, that Hopkins would outclass Calzaghe and that Pacman had less chance than any other participant in a big fight in living memory had had. Adamek is not in Kesslers weight group by a good distance, but at light heavy...Kessler wins on points.

Adamek loses every round to Calzaghe. He is easy to hit and too slow. He does not disguise his shots anything like as well as Hopkins and he has 100th of RJJs hand speed. RJJ dropped Calzaghe with a forearm smash anyway.

Lacy hits harder than Hopkins, but he couldn't land. Calzaghe would see Adameks shots a mile off and cruise to a win on points.
