The fight that many Polish boxing fans are thirsting for is a heavyweight showdown between IBF cruiserweight champ Tomasz Adamek and the countrys heavyweight bad boy - Andrew Golota. After his rousing win two weeks ago over Johnathon Banks, Adamek hinted that all things are possible and that an eventual rise to heavyweight for him was not out of the question. Now, one of the richest men in the world, Polands Zygmunt Solorz, who owns (among other things) the Polish television network Polstat, is willing to step up to the plate in order to make an Adamek-Golota fight a reality. On Tuesday, at a press conference in Warsaw, Adameks co-promoter indicated that a match between the two Poles is one that the Solorz wants to bring to fruition. Adameks trainer, Andrzej Gmitruk, called the potential match-up The Polish Fight of the Century but he also indicated that there would be no doubt that should the fight take place that Adamek would prove victorious over the 41 year-old Golota who has definitely seen better days
Golota is shot at this point. He improved mentally, but otherwise he is nowhere close to the fighter he used to be. Old, slow, and one-handed (even before the accident in his last fight).
A pretty useless fight for Adamek. Hopkins, Dawson and Cunningham would be much better potential legacy builders. If at some point he wishes to move up, he should take on Haye instead, if he's still there. The opportunities (i.e, great fights) are there for Adamek to make a lot of noise in boxing. Why should he waste his time on a semi retired Golota?
Adamek i Golata nie miał walczyć sobie. Adamek ma zbyt wiele (za dużo) inne potencjalne interesujące walki, i Golata miał podawał się do dymisji (odosobniony; emerytowany) dziesięć lata temu.
It will NOT happen. Adamek said it on press conference in Poland that fight against Andrew is unreal and talking about it is just a bull**** and waste of time. Pointless thread imo.
Or Adamek vs. Kolodziej. Pavel is even taller than Golota, and is actually in his prime right now. Golota still brings in the cash with name recognition though.
