He is looking good against top rated HWs while Adamek is looking like **** recently. Also Adamek is a blown up CW or LHW as you prefer it that struggled at HW from they one. He had a good victory against Areola I respect that. But he is not getting any younger and took a nice beating by Vitali. In a nutshell he is smaller and more shop worn Pulev takes it by KO late.
Yeah, and who are these "top rated" heavyweights? Dimi has been exposed big time before Pulev and frankly there is no one else on his win column worth mentioning. Adamek has fought very often at the top level. Sure he has had his close fights and hasnt been dominating of late, but he has also regularly taken on fighters in the top 10. Adamek has also stopped Walker in the 5th whereas Pulev needed to go to the cards. Anyone who thinks Pulev (with his 9 Kos versus light opposition) stops Adamek, is on crack.
I'm surprised people defend Pulev against the 'crude slugger tag'. I admit that's a bit of a hyperbole, but how would you describe him? 'Gifted, fluid technician?', 'Highly skilled boxer'? I see a guy who does not set up his right hand with a jab very well, when he does follow up with the right it looks more like a hook than a proper straight shot. When he does throw hooks I see a guy punching wild left and right hooks that hit air more than their target. His accuracy and punch timing are awful. Chambers was landing on Dimitrenko with ease, landing to the body and head in succession. Compare that to Pulev puching airholes around slow-as-molasses Dimitrenko. Pulev has good reflexes, a good control of range and appears physically strong, but he's by any definition is closer to a crude slugger than a technically gifted boxer.
I agree with that part, but when he does throw his punches he looks so terribly unrefined and wild, at least to my eyes :think
I heard that the negotiations have stalled lately. I hope this is not true and the fight happens as it should be a very good one.
Aren't there usually purse bids for eliminator fights in case the free negotiations fail? I think so, but not 100% sure.
Well, the poll speaks for itself. The thought of Pulev winning by late stoppage isn't farfetched at this point.
Some of the people that pick Adamek to beat Pulev probably picked him against Vitali too. Pulev is not the second coming of Ali but he is not a crud brawler either. Good distance judgement, timing and one of the best heaviest jab in boxing. He was the Europen amateur boxing champion before turning pro too. Adamek is at the end of his career, god I even forgot about the Cuningam fight. In his fight against Ustinov he showed a bit of inside fighting and some tricky dirty tactics. He is the younger naturally bigger man and at worst he is as skillful as Adamek at that point. All this adds up to a late KO for Pulev.
Pulev should not take this fight anywhere near NJ or Poland...he'll be surely robbed, no matter how wide the fight actually is. Pulev makes Adamek look silly and wins a decision anywhere outside of Newark / Krakow.
i picked adamek against arreola. i knew his movement was going to be too much for him. he was also massively overrated at that point. it was such an easy pick to make that i was shocked when most were going for chris. not this time though. pulev will win a pretty easy decision. they could rip him off, but pulev will win so wide it will be difficult to do so.
