    Adamek...

His Heavyweight competition had been atrocious.
The only slightly decent opponents he faced were Obese Arreola & Old Grant.

Arreola was 20lbs overweight but gave him a razor-close war, Grant was 38 years old & overly bulked-up, but managed to badly rock him & make it competitive. Low-level journeyman Estrada gave him a tough fight, & a grossly obese, almost 38 year old terribly-unskilled McBride lasted the distance while Adamek was trying to stop him...

Vitali-Adamek is a mismatch, & Adamek knew he couldn't take any risks on the way to his big payday, yet he still struggled badly & almost lost to Obese Arreola.

As much as I like Vitali, I'm a bigger Adamek fan. If that happens I would go nuts, it's more than a dream since I don't think Adamek can do good against either Klitschkos, he would beat Haye in my opinion but the Klitschkos are just too big and they use it(reach/height) very well. If he pulls it off boy I can't even describe how I'll feel, just thinking about it right now gets me hyper. At the same time I don't think I'll handle watching Adamek lose, especially by knockout, it would be beyond depressing.

Dont you think that Adamek has better chance to upset Vitali than anyone he faced since his comeback? Vitali looks unbeatable and havent lost a single round in years. But he fights slow boxers who arent enough motivated. In Adamek he has a motivated fast boxer. Adamek has been preparing exactly for Klitschkos since 1 and a half year. He has made a huge improvement and he will benefit it. I think that in September we will see an ultimate version of Adamek

I like Vitali more then Wladimir as well, although I do appreciate Wladimirs style.. if he opened up more and was a bit more aggressive I would be a much bigger fan.

That said, One of Adameks biggest problems fighting these huge guys is his reach. His height isn't THAT terrible, but you can tell his reach gives him trouble. I think that has been a huge part of why he has looked worse at HW then his previous weight classes. He really has to lunge against these big guys.

But I do think people are making Vitali out to be this monster who is unbeatable.

Here is a list of his last 6 opponents since Sam Peter in 2008.

    Juan Carlos Gomez

    Chris Arreola

    Kevin Johnson

    Albert Sosnowski

    Shannon Briggs

    Solis..theoretically you could omit this.

Adamek will be Vitalis biggest test since Peter back in 08. All these guys were motionless bodies who just stood infront of Vitali. And let him use his size and reach advantage on them with ease. None of these guys showed much energy or movement to try and win rounds, they just stood there. I believe Adamek will be a different story. I am far from saying Adamek will win. He is physically at a big disadvantage. But I give him decent chances at pulling the upset. With Vitali getting older and slower, reflexes naturally get worse, it isn't playing in his favor. He did control the ring and round with Solis, but at the same time, he did get caught, and his reflexes were just a little too late to move out of the way of what Solis did throw.. altho that was only one round.

"His footwork is terrible!" - Lennox Lewis on Adamek.

An ex-lightheavy with poor footwork against VK.....absolute mismatch. :deal

Exactly. Adamek was tripping over his shoe that almost came apart, it wasn't his supposedly poor footwork.

I didn't like his performance against Grant or McBride, that's why I have major doubts. I really hope he makes the adjustments necessary to pull this off. I like Vitali as well but I admit I'm a bigger fan of Adamek and will be seriously happy to see him win this IF he can, it won't be easy at all. Despite Vitali's age, he still performs very well and doesn't run out of gas at all, the only way to force him to show his age in there is by applying insane pressure and activity, no one can provide that in the ring. Adamek's best bet is to out-point Vitali and I'm sure you will agree that it will be too difficult.

It will be difficult. Noone have ever done it. But Adamek is a special fighter and Vitali isnt in his prime. The chance is there, however its not big.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't this Lennox's last fight before HBO canned him?

Adamek was hurt by McBride, Grant and Arreola. Vitali hits harder and more accurately than any of these. While I see Adamek actually stealing a couple of the first 4-5 rounds, I see Vitali finding his comfort zone around the 5th or 6th and finding Adamek who will then find the canvas.

Adamek is however loaded with heart, and might be able to come back which MIGHT frustrate the elder Klitschko, but unlikely in any event.

Here's to a good fight, sadly it's at the expense of one of boxings favorite sons.

Not sure what you were watching, but Adamek was NOT hurt at all by McBride. I dont think McBride landed more than 10 clean punches on Tomasz all fight.
