ok. firstly i am a fan of adamek and respect him to the fullest with the way he has carried himself as a fighter since his days at light-heavy. i have enjoyed watching him for some years and have always loved his 'no-frills' approach in the ring. he makes up for his relatively limited skill-set with his heart and granite chin; making for exciting fights. since moving up to heavyweight, he has shown a set of balls most other heavies clearly do not possess and has made it clear of his ambition to win that title from the off. ironically, his skillset has improved vastly too (using speed and adept movement and actually looking good with it). but....from day one of his move up, nobody has given him a chance against either klitschko. and for good reason. his power has all but vanished since exceeding 200 lbs, throwing what seem like feather fisted shots against bigger men. whereas he was deemed a puncher with a limited skillset at cruiser/ LH, he is now seen as a skilled boxer with no pop at HW. although i applaud his sheer bravery in seeking and getting this fight, i can see him eating some monster shots right through. it could wind up being the type of beating that hinders his remaining career. i sincerely hope i am wrong; there's nothing i'd love better than seeing him shock the world and attain his dream. it would be great for HW and great for boxing. but sadly, i see this being a lopsided beating as his new-found speed and skillset fail to get him into wlad or vitali's perimeter and he stays on the end of a boring but hard jab for much of the fight. anyone else think this fight is an unattainable dream or can someone boost my confidence by giving me some reassuring points to consider in favor of an adamek upset??
While the Klitchkos and probably Haye have the belts he wont be winnnig any of them. But if they went you never know. Personally i think hes just looks to small, he defends well and moves well for a heavy but when hes gettin hit he quickly looks like a Cruiser at best. Too light? I dont know what hes comin in at in this weight division but he just looks too small.
I think people are making mistake classifying Adamek to be one or another. He seems to be improving his skills (mostly the movement and defense) but his other boxing skills were there all the time along with his willingness to put a fight instead box. So what changed? ... mostly his opponents made the difference so Adamek were doing adjustments to his game plans ... not always correct one: - Dawson .... here Adamek tried to show that he was faster and more skilled ... that was a wrong game plan, as he forgot to use punches and put pressure. - CW ... that was a perfect division for him, slower guys willing to trade so he could use the same skills to defend himself and he had enough power to either stop or knock down his opponents. - HW ... he has the same skills, the difference is that his opponents are bigger and stronger so his punches seems to be almost powerless, the positive difference for him is that he is faster and skilled that his average opponents, so he can avoid the hardest punches and working on own combinations because his power alone is not hurting the bigger guys. ... so what is the conclusion for Wlad and Vitaly ... he practically stands no chance against faster and skillful Wlad (unless he find a way to constantly crack the glass chin), however he may have a big chance to outbox Vitaly.
i hear you,he is skilled, maybe he can hit and move for a few rounds, but can he do it for 12 without getting hit by wlad or vitali? i doubt it,arreola even managed to catch adamek clean. klitschkos now this, this is why they have chosen him,and also due to adamek being a big name, popular in poland USA and even england to some point with polish people living over here.
Haye is nothing like the klitchkos. Stop putting them in the same line, he would get beaten badly by adamek.
I really like Tomasz, he's an oldfashioned fighter. He just steps in with whoever he has to, to get to his goal. On the other hand, there's a downside to that. His chances of winning the fight are indeed slim to none. Imagine if Haye had Adameks mindset... Nobody would be talking about him today. So good luck Tomasz, and you're one of the few guys I don't mind beating a Klit right now, even it's with all the luck in the world.
Excellent post :deal Adamek has always had very good offensive skills, it was his defense which sucked. Obviously he had to improve it in the division where his granite chin is not enough.
what happened the last time adamek fought a fighter with slickness and speed? not even the roids helped him then.
Let's not forget Arreola was supposed to eat Adamek's punches and walk through him. Didn't happen, and its not only because of the movement. Similarly, he kept Estrada and the huge Grant off of him precisely because they felt his punches. Adamek's power is now being under estimated at HW. While he likely no longer enjoys 1 punch KO power like he had in the earlier weight classes, make no mistake about it, Adamek's power is still enough to TKO his competition or at least keep his opponents off of him, enough to outbox them.
