Quote doesn't make sense. There's nothing stupid about it, if that's what Steward said, he's talking absolute bollocks. What's the source for this anyway?

 

I'm being serious, Pretty Boy Fred. Steward wants Manny to come in exactly at that catchweight limit? He thinks Manny weighing lower is unreasonable?

 

If pac doesnt feel that fighting in a higher weightclass can suit him then he should not fight in that weight division, certainly not if it is for a title.

on the orherhand the fighters are only taking these catchweights to put food on table and money in the bank.

as they couldnt have any other big money options.

Ok I get what he's trying to say. Yep I agree with him. Nothing wrong with catchweight fights themselves, but trying to claw a title at the same time is wrong.

 

I don't understand why Mayweather fans play up the catchweight issue. In two of his last three fights, Mayweather forced his opponent to move up to a different weight class where they're not as good at all. Isn't that a lot worse than meeting them halfway, which is what Pacquaio has been doing?

A rehydration clause is just rumor and nothing else. The commissions wouldn't sanction the fights if they had that. It would be a threat to safety of the fighters. A 10-pound rehydration limit is legal, but not a no-rehydration limit.

Hatton wanted to challenge Mayweather at 147lbs...thats why he moved up in the first place.
Marquez wanted to pursue Pacquiao for a third bout...and I'm not defending the Marquez v Mayweather bout.

The Marquez bout was a catchweight...but wasn't for a title.

 

6 months before, Ricky fought at his usual aggressive pace when smacking Malignaggi around the ring. He had no conditioning issues during that bout at 140. And in his preperation for the Pacquiao fight, Ricky ensured an extended training camp so he could drop weight comfortably. He'd been doing the same thing all his career, and not once looked fatigued in the ring. But against Pacquiao where he barely even got going, it suddenly caught up with him? Bull****
