Wow, ****ing Mayorga. I still can't wrap my mind around him. What are your thoughts on the match-up ? I remember Mayorga/Chavez being discussed and who knows, that still might happen. Isn't Chavez 40 something and 0, without me looking on boxrec?
:think Chavez might have even passed the forty win mark at this point. Let me check. Yep. 41-0 plus a draw and a no contest. Whoever pops his cherry will have serious bragging rights. He was supposed to meet Cotto but that fell through, and now it's sounding like Saul Alvarez will be next in line for JCC Jr. I give Saul a very solid chance there. As for Dzinziruk-Mayorga, if Sergiy is even close to what many of us believe him to be he'll pitch a no-hitter/shut-out. If he takes Mayorga lightly (which might be easy to do given Mayorga's inactivity and the fact that he was still smoking cigars while training for his ill-fated planned MMA debut recently) he could be in a world of trouble.
Mayorga should beat Dzinziruk/Chavez and then have a 0 stealing record worth creaming over. By the way, thanks for all the contributions to the thread IB. This threads just as much yours as mine, you've contributed a ton to it.
It's a great thread idea (wish it was mine ) and a fascinating area of study, zero-stealing, and one that nobody but us seems to prize all that highly. :yep Not to put too high a premium on high-number undefeated records (as we all know, they can be padded) but when someone starts to develop a track record for prospect-busting (or, even more impressively, dethroning an unblemished champion) it's a remarkable and under-documented accomplishment.
Completely agreed. It's funny/sad thinking about all the post fighr depression, shattered dreams, ruined futures and big paydays of young prospects/padded bums. Marlon Starling was the epitome of frustration and career derailing. Breland was one of the most accomplished amateurs of all time, Starling derailed that. Hard hitting, undefeated Jose "The Threat" Barret. 21-0 Tommy Ayers. Took a undefeated Nunn and a undefeated Curry to the edge as well, two of the most hyped fighters of the last few decades. Just insane thinking about all the potential million dollar matches Starlin ****ed up. Must of been frustrating being in there with him, his ultra tight guard, him sticking his tounge out at you... Mother ****er.:twisted::twisted:
3-4 Shawn McLean took the 38-0 of Faruq Saleem, whom has been feating on nobodies for over a decade now.
I'm very surprised Arthur Abraham hasn't been done yet. :huh :yep 26-0 Edison Miranda 20-0 Sebastien Demers 21-0 Lajuan Simon 67-0.
This has to be one of the better single-zero scores you'll find. Guillermo Gimenez, who finished his career with a losing record of 20-24-13 (5), scored a ninth round TKO over Maxie Docusen, then 64-0-3 (23). "This was considered to be a big upset. Gimenez had Docusen in serious condition in many of the rounds before Docusen's manager, Bonnie Geigerman jumped into the ring to tell Referee Pete Giaruso to stop the fight. Reported in the New Orleans Times-Picayune (Jack Kincaid), where it was said that this was Docusen's first loss in 67 fights." Gimenez failed in his five other attempts to steal zeros (four of them against the same opponent, Alfredo Prada).
Harry Greb definitely wins this. He was the only man to beat Gene Tunney, and he beat at least ten other undefeated fighters.
Scottish super featherweight Ricky Burns is making a case for himself with his recent upset of Rocky Martinez for the WBO title. Roman Martinez 24-0-1 Graham Earl 22-0 Colin Bain 8-0 54 and counting.
I'm amazed none of us have yet thought to do Luis Ramon "Yori Boy" Campas with his longevity and knack for giving prospects hell. Esteban Camou 17-0 Tony Ayala Jr. 27-0 Raul Marquez 28-0 Luciano Torres 13-0 Roger Turner 22-0 107
