Some say that Wilder was exposed, that he could punch but not box...

    But we already knew this???

Wilder has always been a one-punch slam bam type of guy. Wilder could shorten his punches and try to box but what would that accomplish against Tyson Fury, the best out boxer in the HW division? Fury is the much better boxer, we all knew this, nothing was """Exposed""". Wilder needed a brutal combination knockout. That's his style, his fight.

What Wilder SHOULD'VE done was work on punch accuracy and upped his engine. Wilder's pace should've been TWICE, if not THRICE what it was in the fight. Wilder was just randomly timid in the times between missing bombs. He also seemed to have gassed in the later rounds. Needs more roadwork.

In conclusion, Wilder didnt get exposed for a lack of boxing ability. He's always been a puncher. He just isn't that good of a puncher. Needs to work on being a better puncher, let a man work with what he's gifted in, instead of bashing Wilder for not being Fury 2.0

Very good post, now that I think about it, he probably could've won if he trained that.

it would have accomplished a win, if he could box.

Thats like saying Ali could accomplish more if he was born with power, or foreman could accomplish more if he had a gas tank

This. Took the words right out of my mouth. Wilder over the years was critical of roadwork and said it was useless, but when you face your toughest challenge those 5-6 miles of road work allow you to dig deep. The bicycle and short interval running is no replacement for good old fashioned roadwork. This is why Joe Calzaghe was never tired in the ring and also why Usyk was able to immediately up the pace on Bellew. Going into the Usyk-Bellew fight Usyk's coach had Usyk running 5-6 miles a day while Bellew did a little bit of the treadmill and Bellew's coach also said several miles of road work was useless, but Bellew gassed when the fight got tough.

Also, Wilder wasn't used to someone being as efficient as Fury. Fury's footwork was very efficient and he kept slightly stepping back while bending just a little, which was making Wilder over punch. It was Wilder's own fault for over relying on he right hand and not making adjustments. Wilder is too also used to his eventually gassing in the later rounds, but since Fury was using much less energy than Wilder this didn't happen and it was Wilder that ended up gassing.

When Wilder used to be in Los Angeles back in 2012 I seen Coach Bernie Hopalian, who was a trainer at my friend's Gym and also trained Malik Scott for Ortiz tell Wilder he should work on his balance and work on putting combinations together better, since guys like Wlad or Fury would counter him at will when he missed the big right hand. Wilder kind of brushed it off, but it showed last night that Wilder needs to find a more efficient and effective way to deliver his power shots, since he was absorbing way too many clean counter rights.

    Quick rant

THIS THOUGH, WHATS WITH THESE WOKE REVISIONIST TRAINERS DISSING ROADWORK??? THEIR FIGHTERS ALWAYS GAS. YOU KNOW WHO DID LOADS OF ROADWORK? BATTLING NELSON, ROCKY MARCIANO, JAMES JEFFRIES, MUHAMMAD ALI, ETC. ALL AMAZING GAS TANKS.

Revisionism is ruining boxing, trainers are becoming stupid.

I think Fury being 256 lbs and his clinching had a lot to do with sapping Wilder's energy.

Fury barely clinched in the fight, and who cares? Wilder literally came in at a career low since his first fight, his stamina should've been there but it wasn't. Wilder gassed because Wilder didn't have enough stamina

I swear people always make excuses when fighters gas

I totally agree. wilder is what he is………..a massiv overachiever. i mean think About it: 12 year old Boxers with Maybe 10 fights under their belt are technically more advanced than wilder (sounds like an exaggertion but really isnt). all he has is power and reach…….and he became a Champion. thats crazy.

Power and Animalistic instincts will take you far. Boxing ability is honestly sometimes overrated. Marciano's entire career is proof of this

Maybe i'm taking a simplistic view, but Wilder has experienced success doing it the way he does it, so guess he and his team could have taken the view "if it aint broke don't try to mend it".

If the rematch takes place then i think of the two, it is Wilder who'll be one who can improve most, as frankly Fury last night had answers to nearly all that Wilder brought to the bout.

Ive been saying that too. A rematch with wilder right away is the absolute wrong move for Fury. IMO Fury needs another tune-up match and drop weight until he weighs low 240s and up his pace if he's gonna fight Wilder again. I think Wilder should go after AJ now. Usyk also needs tune up matches
