Admaek vs. Johnson practically a done deal. HBO turns it down.

Well it's official, this fight ain't happening Sho championship boxing has no date for it in July. HBO does but just passed completely. Adamek looking for an opponent for a July
10th Shobox this according to Rafael. Wonder who they'll go with? Pickings are kind of slim. You know Flores won't take it. Maybe Troy Ross

    Awful decision by HBO.

Missed out on yet another great fight, only to go on and approve more "Pavlik vs Rubio" type BS.

This fight might make SHO the official boxing cable channel. It really might, That's reason enough fir HBO to want to be in on things.

**** 'em; they got rid of The Legend Larry Merchant in favor of Max Kellerman. That's reason enough HBO doesn't deserve this fight IMO.

My understanding is that Adamek-Johnson is a HBO or Showtime Championship Boxing fight so if Adamek fights on VS or Shobox it will be against someone else.

Showtime will pick up the fight. Showtime is doing a better job televising the better fights. HBO has the bigger "name" fights on their network but Showtime has the better overall competitive bouts IMO.

    Vitali Vs. Peter
    and Vitali Vs. Gomez
Then HBO shows a wino fighting an undefeated fighter and some other boring crap.

Adamek will knock him out inside six rounds. After this farce, Adamek needs to take on true cruiserweights. Throw at him Steve Cunningham again, or BJ Flores or even Herbie Hide.

Guys its not just a matter of saying OK we'll pick up his fight. There are reasons that networks dont want fights.

1)RETURN-they are in business to make money, its a fight that well have a 5 million dollar outlet, and maybe not enough in return.

2)Budget-Networks dont have unlimited money for sports programming.

3)Limited number of dates. The BIG WIGS at HBO only gives the Boxing department a certain number of dates for WCB and BAD, I think that they have a total of 30 I read somewhere.

HBO has a large number of fighter signed to deals, if those fighters want to fight 3 or 4 times a year they are pushed to PPV because of the limited number of dates. Im sure that HBO would love to put on the Adamek Johnson fight but my guess is they have a problem with one of the three areas that I outlined above.

I'm sure SNY will pick it up... that'll be worth a cold $500 or so in the fighters' pockets. :D
