Talent is all up to opinion.

EDIT: Stevenson likely has the better resume than Golovkin...

you think GGG would like to meet up at 168. I think not.

you think Ward is more worried about GGG than Stevenson? I think not.

Stevenson is 36 and a crude if powerful puncher. He won't be on top for long and as I see it, Golovkin is by far the better boxer. All Stevenson really has on him is size.

lets just ask Ward who's the most feared!

Ward punked GGG by saying he never calls him out, its his handlers that want it not him. haven't heard a word back from the guy.

Stevenson has sent contracts to Ward to fight once at 168 and once at 175. Stevenson hasn't heard a word back lol

In tems of fighter of the year, Adonis has done a lot more than Golovin. KO revenge vs Boone, knock out of LHW champ Dawson, stoppage over former IBF titlist Cloud, and now stops his top mandatory. Impressive year by far. GGG had great year in building his brand, but Adonis trumps him in quality of opposition.

There's some similarities with Martinez-Golovkin and Stevenson-Kovalev. Hopefully we get to see both those fights happen in 2014.

Yeah but GGG will fight anyone from 154 to 168(with an emphasis on 154) unless its Quillen, Martinez, Ward, or Froch. Basically he is the top MW and is favored over anyone but he is not available to fight any legitimate title holders, the lineal MW champion, or any natural MW with a pulse. He would beat these guys anyway right?

Look what he did to Rosado. Rosado knows Hopkins and everything.

Well that and the fact he is the legitimate and linear LHW champion of the world. GGG is a very talented contender that has not chosen to step up. Champion>contender, almost every time.

Ward didnt punk anyone, and GGG did talk about a Ward fight right in front of Ward at the Rosado HBO fighter meeting. Pretty sure Virgil Hunter in an interview somewhere mentioned GGG and gave the opinion that he should clean out more of MW first. Which makes sense, because if they were both lineal champs it would make a bigger fight.

Which is why Ward recently tamped down in a very respectful way any tension of calling out or upcoming bout between the two. Ward has been very respectful of GGG, even if the way some headlines penned by poor journalists have read might give a different impression to someone who didnt watch the actual interviews. Not from fear, noone accusing Ward of fearing GGG just in a year its a much bigger payday for both.

Ward talking retirement and exit strat already... and theres a tiny amount of potential 8 figure paydays befitting a #2 p4p in the next couple years on the radar, Golovkin being one of them if his popularity keeps rising.

I will give Stevenson the nod over GGG in terms of FOTY though. He has been just as dominant over his opposition, plus earned a lineal title. Though Kovalev has had just as good a year. I still favor Bradley for FOTY, but really between Timmah, Stevenson and Kovalev... good arguments can be made for all three. I doubt theres any really objective way to favor one over the others.

Since DiBella has flat out said theres no way he would put Martinez in with a monster like GGG anytime soon, your arguments about lineal dont hold up.

The "lineal champ title" you put so much emphasis on at MW wants to fight 154's like Cotto for big paydays. Which I hardly blame him for, I can say I would do the exact same thing. DiBella said after his mandatory WBC, and a couple big paydays (with 154 pounders), that then, maybe, they would consider GGG as retirement fight.

Adonis has way and I mean waaaaay faster hands than GGG with more power. He would surely KO GGG who already shows leaky defense against tomato cans. Let's keep GGG at 160.
