I kinda agree. Beterbiev needs one more fight to prove himself a worthy challenger to one of the 3 kings of the division. Winner of him vs Barrera would make for Stevenson's best title defence to date.

What do you always have to race bait? People aren't just supporting Smith because he's white, some might... But a lot support him because of his working class background and the feel good story of his unexpected rise. As for this fight... A lot are supporting him because they don't like Stevenson. I don't either, but that doesn't mean I give him anything other than the same punchers chance Williams Jr. had.

 

Kudos to Stevenson for taking the very important first step in getting this fight made. It's a fight that makes a lot of sense, and that's more than can usually be said of the matchmaking in this sport. This will be an exciting fight with the possibility of an upset. And if Smith delivers the upset, wow!.

 

Stevenson too skilled for Smith
