Who wins if it happens now? I have got to say I am very impressed with Artur Beterbiev's development and his power. While I was very impressed with donis Stevenson a year ago o the point where I felt he was breaking into the pound for pound top 10 I now feel he has lost that momentum and seems to be going backwards if anything. This to me seems like a great fight, who do you pick if it happens now?
Its all too easy to throw unexperienced fighters to the wolves, before they have had a chance to develop and season. If the fight were to happen now, I would expect Stevenson to find a way to win. Beterbiev is looking strong and impressive and may go on to be a major factor at LHW
Beterbiev's pressure and ability to corner and crowd his opponents wouldn't allow Adonis the courtesy of settling into his groove and the fear of Artur's power would have him off his game from the get go. Artur wins by brutal KO of the pimp.
I think if Artur Beterbiev fought Fonfara and Fonfara managed to go about 8 then he would have enough expierience to then face Stevenson and win. The only question marks about Artur Beterbiev are his stamina and ability to pace himself over 12 which will come. Even now though his chances right now are very realistic in this one for me, almost 50/50.
The Adonis of a year ago was very hard to get out of the groove but today is going backwards. I really thought and hoped we would be seeing Ward vs. him and/or Kovalev by now.
The Boone KO continues to haunt his every decision and if was finally getting his head straight and believe in his shaky chin, his innermost fears were reinforced by Fonfara this year. I think the sharpness of Ward's very accurate counters could actually KO Adonis.
I think it would be Stevenson's worst matchup possible. Worse as Kovalev. Beterbiev relentlessly comes forward with big power, and probably exposes the pimp's chin early.
As long as he doesn't blunder into a left hand - which could happen - Beterbiev will eventually steamroll him. The reason Stevenson is able to hurt everyone is because they give him too much respect and stay on the outside where he can get his timing on the left hand down via trial & error. (he isn't very accurate fresh out the gate) Everybody fights him scared. Beterbiev would just tank in, unafraid, like an idiot, and because of that probably stand a better chance than all the guys who believe they're playing it "smart" by staying outside. You need to just go at Stevenson, and not let him iron out the kinks in his offense.
Adonis packin' Canadian-Haitian glass. King Artur would beat this pimp worse than he ever beat his hos.
