I've always said that it would be a very close contest.

I think the winner is decided by the man who gets the first punch in.

Either man packs shaky mandibles and massive power. It would be a very very compelling matchup. One that could be won by any man. :deal

Why is Stevenson fighting guys I never heard of?

That Polak was a joke of an opponent. I think he's drop the belt before he'd face Kovalev.

You believe that Stevenson will fiht Kovalev next?

People have been saying that for a year now. Somebody ought to gert tired of saying it.

Not that impressed. Stevenson gets no credit for doing what he was expected to do.

I also noticed that Stevenson still has flaws in his game. He lunges when he punches, and he drops his hands when he throws. He tends to drop his left hand when he throws a right, and vice versa. He also has terrible balance.

You might ask, "Well, if he has these flaws, then why haven't his opponents been able to beat him?". The answer to that is, Stevenson's opponents before Fonfara, simply put, weren't that good. Dawson was physically and mentally shot by the time Stevenson fought him, Cloud has always been a one-dimensional slugger, and Bellew is Euro level, at best.

In short, the reason they weren't able to beat them is because they weren't good enough to exploit his flaws.

Tonight also further cemented the fact that he's a one armed bandit with ONE good punch(a left cross) I'm not even sure he's a top 5 LHW h2h... With how limited he is I could see old Hopkins out boxing him to a decision, Brahmer outboxing and maybe even stopping him, Pascal stops him, Kovalev stops him, and so does Beterbiev.

All someone would have to do is take away his left by countering it. Then it would be smooth sailing from there.

With Sergey's feinting, it would be easy work for Kovalev, the first shot that lands clean.:!:

Stevenson is a counter-puncher (And only an average one at that), and feints are a counter-puncher's Kryptonite.

Kovalev used feints to great effect against Agnew and Hopkins.
