Andre Dirrell refused to step in against Stevenson in an IBF eliminator, so Don George gets an opportunity for redemption - coming directly off the unanimous decision loss to Edwin Rodriguez in which he was relieved of his previous highest decoration (USBA super middleweight title).

This will a fun fight, in which it will be tough to find someone to root for.

The ****** versus the pimp. :!:

I voted draw as I hope they both lose. I'm rooting for a karmic double knockout. However, i believe the pimp KOs the ******.

What the hell? What happened to Dirrell? Stevenson is gonna stop him mid rounds I believe.

    Here's the thing...

Stevenson has more power and skill, both by quite large margins.

    HOWEVER...

George himself can seriously ****ing hit (it's just that Stevenson has next-level power) and has a serious chin. Stevenson...err...not so much.

This match-up is basically Zab Judah (Stevenson) vs. Brandon Rios (George)

I'm actually quite fond of this analogy. VERY apt, the more I think on it. :nod

A sad day in boxing when a fighter in his prime retires. Dirrel will be missed.

But on a positive note, Don George will put his head on the line and we will have a fight.

I'll take Stevenson by KO 5-7. :think

Of course, Sierra decked him (albeit from accumulation)...and if you leave your chin hanging out the way George does against Stevenson's brand of power... bad things happen to all but the most invincibly Hagler-like... :yikes

It's what makes this so damn enthralling. Either guy could be KTFO, easily.

Much like Judah vs. Rios (which I have to admit is a huge guilty pleasure fantasy at 140).

    Lotta similarities in the match-ups...

In both, you have the one guy who on the positive side has:

    - Stiff enough hands to knock out most opponents in their weight range.
    - A solid enough chin to take as well as he dishes out from most.

BUT, on the negative flip side:

    - lacks refined technique on offense
    - defends with that solid chin...and little else.

Then on the other hand, a guy who possesses of:

    - loads of speed and athleticism to make opponents look stupid, and a southpaw to boot
    - MASSIVE power

BUT, unfortunately is also saddled with:

    - being several knives short of a full drawer mentally.
    - punch resistance that leaves much to be desired on world level.

Damn it, I want a Stevenson vs. George/Judah vs. Rios doubleheader! :rant
