Except you're leaving one tiny little detail out... Your hero the Pimp is a coward who's been on a farcical run since knocking Dawson out. He won't go anywhere near Kovalev or Ward unless the money is right. Smith? He doesn't care... He'll fight anyone in the division even for peanuts. I'd make him a significant underdog against any of the 4 fighters mentioned here, with Stevenson having the biggest chance of being upset.

 

Sure, Smith is hungry, but that means little against the division's top Pros.
Don't get it twisted. So far Smith has beaten a b level contender, Fonfara, who Stevenson already KO'ed, and a 52 year old man.
You think that this entitles Smith to face Stevenson, Kovalev or Ward?

Smith would be better off paying some real dues and facing Barrera, beterbiev or Pascal.
Stop asking for free hand-outs and do the work like old school!

Beating Fonfara + Hopkins is better than what any of those did!

 

Of course those were waste of time filler matches, the same as Golovkin Vs Brook, Golovkin Vs Wade and Ward Vs Barrera.

Smith Vs Beterbiev would not be the same type filler match, but a competitive match-up of top contenders.
Stevenson Vs Smith is as much a waste of time as Stevenson Vs Fonfara. Easy KO win for Stevenson.
However, I'd like to see Smith against Williams Jr.!

Stevenson-Fonfara was not an easy KO win for Stevenson, it went the distance and Stevenson got floored too.

It went 12 rounds, Stevenson won by decision.

 

Fonfara was easy work for Stevenson.
He never had a chance.
The knockdown was no big deal. It happens in boxing.
smith caught Fonfara cold, but that doesn't make Smith worthy of Stevenson or Kovalev.

Put Smith in with Barrera and get a good competitive fight.

Why are you so against the idea Smith Jr. and Stevenson squaring off? Where was this when Stevenson took on that "murders row" post-Dawson? Are you afraid that Smith will put the upset off?

 

I'm not excited by it because Smith has yet to do anything to suggest it would be a competitive match.
Stop pushing these contenders so fast even before they have even paid dues and worked their way into contention.
Why would any real boxing fan want to see Stevenson Vs a nobody like Smith, instead of Stevenson Vs Kovalev or Stevenson vs Ward?

The rightful path for Smith is against other top contenders like Barrera, Beterbiev, or Williams. This is boxing, NOT UFC!

 

Put Stevenson in with Beterbiev so that we can stop having these "filler" fights.

Dont let his win over a 52 year old bhop fool you. The wins impressive but lets not forget he was cherry picked for a reason.

Fonfaras defence has sucked since he fought cleverly. He obviously thought he could please the crowd again vs smith using the same tactics lol.

 

Stevenson is already old . He still a powerful man despite his age . That lights out power he has in his hands is not going anywhere as he continues to age .



Im picking Stevenson by KO in 4 .

As much as I will like to say Joe Smith Jr wins this fight , I would be lying to myself and that's something I don't do .

Stevenson will wipe out Smith Jr in a short but very satisfying thriller .
