Very enjoyable fight with rugged body blows, powerful uppercuts and hard shots to the head.

I think it was a ropes holding up the fighter kind of thing.

Curiel whacked Nontshinga throughout the fight with vicious body shots but started getting tired in round nine. Nontshinga couldn't do anything about Curiel's aggression until the champ tired and then he ended it pretty quickly.

Curiel obv needs to pace himself for 12 rounds. You don’t need to throw 8000 punches and win every round by a mile, dog.

Why are people on Twitter demanding Nontshinga vs. Sunny Edwards next? :dunno

Are he and Curiel not now knotted up 1-1 each with a stoppage victory passing the belt back and forth? Clearly they've a trilogy to finish before any other order of business, no?

Yes, let's have the third fight. No reason for Nontshinga to move up to flyweight anyway. After the third fight, there are Teraji and Canizales out there for the winner.

Eh...Nontshinga was landing clean counters throughout the fight; he may not have won many rounds (though I did give him the third and fifth prior to the 8th) but he was having enough success that this outcome didn't seem that outlandish.

    Rubber match is a necissity.

There needs to be a third fight. This one was a doozy.

Did anybody object to the level of coaching coming out of the Nontshinga corner? It used to be the case that the referee would tell the corner to stfu - worst of all, it wasn't even good advice. "Yea yEAAAHHH! Yes, yes!" That's not helping anyone. I found it pretty irritating. As bas as Froch's wife but at least she's not directly below a microphone.
