Adrian Diaconu vs Jean Pascal

I've actually been doing better in my picks lately after the year long slump following the Andy Lee-Brian Vera fight, but the way I said it came off as particularly "jinx" worthy when I read it back to myself. I think I could hear Pascal's chances being flushed right down the toilet as I was typing it. :!:

Will be interesting on the co feature to see if Troy Ross can stop Micheal Simms for the first time.

 

Don't feel too bad. I picked Brian Vera to win a wide UD over Craig Mcewan on this site. I got all kinds of shite after Mcewan totally outclassed and dominated Vera.

 

I really doesn't want to choose and anyway ill say its 50/50 but it doesn't mean anything since i'm a big fan of both!

One could say the same of Diaconu. He hasn't fought anyone, and he went life and death with Chris Henry, who was beaten convincingly by Yusef Mack in his very next fight.

I'm not big on Pascal, but the more I think about it, the more I lean towards Pascal pulling off the upset. I think he'll be able to use his substantial reach advantage to keep Diaconu off of him and win a close one.

Actually Henry and Hoye were top 3 contenders at the time.

 

Maybe in that sanctioning body's rankings, but they sure as **** weren't ranked by The Ring or anyone else reputable before they fought Diaconu. In fact, Henry did so well against Diaconu that he JOINED the Ring rankings after their fight.

I'll just chalk this one up to misremembering things. You're usually a solid poster and not someone to stir stuff up for the sake of it, but if you're being honest, then it's a bit disingenuous. It would be like saying Marco Antonio Rubio was a top 3 contender just because he was Pavlik's mandatory.

 

Let's stop this.If anything Diaconu beat him more convincingly.
Mack yes started the fight very good but as always he gassed bad towarsd the end and lost plenty of rounds and the split decision was a correct scoring.
And Pascal winning wouldn't be an upset at all.

 

I believe he was in the rankings a few weeks before the fight.

EDIT:Checked and he was no 10 in the match issue.

 

Check the wayback machine. Trust me, he joined the rankings the week after they fought. Before the fight, nobody had even heard of Chris Henry.

 

The march 2008 issue had him at no 10.The fight was in april.
And there are plenty of guys ranked by the Ring threw the weight divisions that nobody knows.

Hoye was 2 and Diaconu was 3 for a WBC title eliminator.

Than after the whole Dawson bullcrap Diaconu fought then number one Chris Henry for the interm.

Still tho, he fought top opposition at the time. Its so easy to discredit someone AFTER the fact. Hoye and Henry were solid opponents at that time(not great but solid none the less. not like some Felix Sturm opponents or w/e) and now hes fighting another solid opponent in Jean Pascal.

Diaconu is at least searching for hard fights, and not wasting his time with the Silvio Brancos of the world, and we must at least give him credit for that imo...
