NO WAY can you have such overwhelming numbers as Jovanie Santiago had... and lose! Santiago connected 207 overall punches versus his 98. Santiago connected 83 jabs versus his 49. Santiago connected 124 power punches versus his 49 (at a rate of 37% versus his 30%). In fact, Santiago threw a total of 697 punches versus his 338. Conclusion: Adrian Boner was granted a "mercy decision" victory on 2/20/2021. Judges are too often bunglers, or just plain dirty and give the win to the guy who'll be the bigger money-draw in the future. https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/maybe-its-time-to-rethink-it-all.661214/

I read the OP in the linked thread and the first response by Oddone answered the question sufficiently, I think.
Keep in mind compubox is just a human or a group of humans, clicking a button when they think a punch connects. Humans make mistakes. There’s a great clip on YouTube somewhere of compubox counting punches that hit nothing but air as landing. That being said yes, Broner got a decision that isn’t sitting well with a lot of people. He’s a broken shell of himself and has been for a long time now. The fire is gone and he’ll be around long enough to be dropped throughly soon enough.
No it cant be. Boxing judges have a paper license that makes them official judges of a fight. Therefore they know more than you and are intrinsically better evaluators of action. The glaring conflict of interests, often bad view of the action, and a sport saturated in corruption doesnt matter at all. They are credible. Their piece of paper says so. Broner won no question. If you doubt it, look at boxrec. Says he won.
Ok so we go full on scifi; boxers to wear full body suits w/gloves to measure/transmit psi per blow in real time. The crowd oohs and aaahhs over giant graphics as the psi of a big punch is displayed on the big screens with a "BOOM", BAP", "BAM" like in the Batman series with Adam West. Failing some kind of stoppage, accumulated psi for legal blows is displayed (minus any penalties for low blows, hitting behind the head, etc) and highest total gets the decision. And I never watch boxing again.
We have all witnessed worse cards but most had something BIGGER riding on who got the W. This was just a gift to shut AB up and it had the opposite impact
