One thing pissing me of with Broner is him saying he MR HBO. That's floyd's line he ripping off along with the lifestyle flashy line he been dropping lately.
I was at the Perez fight in person, trust me if it wasn't apparent on TV, Broner was waaaay bigger, but Perez is a very solid boxer who was just outmuscled. I believe Broner is 90%on hype, but mainly because he hasn't fought a decent test, particularly one with power. (except Ponce who most everyone believes won). Let's examine when Broner-Hype became fever pitched... couldn't have been after the Litzau fight. Any Broner believers out there to respond? What was the moment in his career you decided he's the real deal?
If you guys don't like Broner, then thats fine. If you think his antics are over-the-top and down-right ridiculous, well join the club, because I am on board with that also. But to say that Broner has no talent, skill or ability and is "deeply flawed" is just beyond ridiculous. And to even suggest that Khan has more talent and ability is COMEDY. It seems to me that all you are is laying the foundation for another "Hatin Thread" to create after the fight. If broner wins easy within 3 rounds...."Broner is still fighting bums". If Broner wins by close decision...."See, I told ya' he's overrated". This content is protected
I am a fan of GRJ but if you are going to talk about Broners comp then what about GRJ? GRJ is still just a prospect at this point in time
TBF Russell hasn't fought anybody yet, in terms of competition yes Broner wins hands down. But for me just looking at their fights, GRJ is the more solid boxer and has shown lesser weaknesses, albeit against weaking comp. This thread is about Broner's flashiness with no substance (which i sort of agree with the TS), i think GRJ is quite the opposite, not too flashy but all substance.
I don't understand threads like this. If you're a boxer, you can proceed in two ways: 1. Fight whoever is in front of you and hope for the best 2. Make things happen for yourself Broner is trying to make things happen. The flash, smack talk, hair brush, etc, he is becoming the hunted and not the hunter and that equals more money and attention. Why do we hate on a man for trying to maximize his earning potential in a sport with a very small window of opportunity? Guys like Robert Guerrero are fine and despite his great skill and ability, he's forced to beg for fights or take shitty ones for sub-par pay. Broner is not exactly overly protected or anything. Considering his age, he is progressing quite nicely and seems to pass all tests with flying colors (other than PDL fight). If he loses, so what? He's trying to make a name for himself and climb the ladder, good on him and I wish him well.
you realize GRJ is 24 right? If they fought tomorrow I am picking Broner but hopefully they both have great careers they are both good for the sport
Errr...I don't know Jack I think you're hating here. Broner is very talented, yes he's feasted on bums and is A bit over rated due to everything you stated above, but I think he will develop into a dominate champ. Give him time, he has the goods. But the jury still is out on how he handles elite level fighters so I won't praise him as the second coming just yet...
