I was trying to find all the information I could on Broner's amateur career, and the only major titles he won that I have found was the silver gloves back in 2002 and 2003. I don't even think he won his local golden gloves, and he certainly never won any national golden gloves tournaments. I think Raushee was probably the reason why he never won his local golden gloves.

Now I know that AM success is totally different than pro success, but the AM's ARE a very good indicator of a fighter's skills and talent, and many of the ATG's were absolute studs in the AM's - especially many of the fighters Broner is being compared to - yet he seemingly had nowhere near the same impact as them on the AM scene.

Broner is definitely a good young fighter, for sure, but I've said this before and I'll say it again - something just doesn't seem to add up with him. I have seen the PDL fight four times now, and maybe I am putting too much stock into that. A lot of people can't stand him because of his attitude, but I don't share those same sentiments - he's not a maliciously bad guy, just seems to be having fun - though I do think he dickrides Mayweather like a mother****er, but the point I am trying to make is I want to see this kid develop into a great pro, he's a nice kid with his head screwed on right, if not a bit goofy, and he has a lot of athletic ability and a seemingly very good skill set, but looking at his AM career he didn't lose a lot, but when he did lose it was in the major tournaments and against the other elite AM's, he always seemed to fall short in the big moments, and that coupled with the PDL fight and the seeming need to fight against significantly undersized opponents and disregard the weight limit just leads me to believe that something doesn't add up with him and that he will fall well short of all the expectations out there for him.

yeah I do find it kind of weird that he doesn't have much of a glorified amateur career like some of his peers with that much hype around them.

Only time can tell if he is ready for competition against other elite talent, I'm rooting for em. I think he has what it takes to go really far.

I'm not too sure, but then again Broner isn't being compared to Duran. Two fighters who seem to be brought up while mentioning Broner are FMJ and RJJ - two of the most decorated American AM's in the last 30-40 years.

Granted, the bigger gloves and headgear obviously helped his opponents out by taking some of the fire out of Broner's punches, but yea man, like you said, it also strikes me as weird for his lack of AM celebrity, especially for such an athletically gifted and skilled fighter.

Kind of hoping someone from the Cinci area that knows more about this can chime in.

whenever I try to find information on his amateur bouts it just always say he has over 300 fights.

Even though it doesn't mean much at the pro level be interesting to see what names he has faced as an amateur.

He does but fights nothing like them. Broner is supposed to be a master technician and a boxer with a punch. Such types of fighters often have decorated amateur careers which apparently as I learned here is not his case. I think that maybe it was a case of dedication.

Exactly, as i've been saying this guy is B grade at best. Wait and see. Andre Berto version 2.0
Another overhyped American. Get Lomachenko in there with him and see what happens.

Come on man, you seem to dickride Lomachenko twice as much as Broner dickrides FMJ.

Broner doesn't exactly feature a resume laced with ATG's at this point, but he is unbeaten in 24 PROFESSIONAL fights and 7-0 in title fights, which is WAY more than anything Lomachenko has done as a pro. Just ease off the kid man, it's people like you that overhype the **** out of fighters and turn other fans off of fighters simply because the amount of dick polishing is unbearable. Let the kid get in the professional ring and prove himself before you start mentioning his name with Broner's, let alone making ridiculous claims that he'd beat him right now. At this point in time Broner assuredly wrecks Lomachenko in a pro fight.

And **** off with that "B level at best" bull****. This kid clearly has the requisite athleticism and boxing skill to be an "A" level fighter, even his biggest haters can see that. One thing Broner doesn't lack is potential or a "ceiling" so you obviously have no clue what you're talking about.

    Couldn't have said it better.

Also - to your last point pertaining to dedication - great call I hadn't even thought/considered that, and probably holds the most weight imho. Good stuff.:good
