He doesn't have to earn FMJ purses. Fighters like Cotto make $5 million a fight and he thinks he can make that kind of money in 5 years. It's reasonable that he could make that kind of money or more if he wins.

So he's betting on the fight that he'll keep winning over that time. I think it's smart of him to not sign with them because you don't know the fine print and $40 million for a boxer with his talent is about average.

I'm sure Cotto, Bradley, Mosley and others all will make similar amounts. Guys like Mayweather and Pacquiao can make $40 million in a single fight. Mayweather can make that much because he has his own promotion company.

In other words, to get that 40 mil, he'd have to fight Mathysee, then Postol, then Crawford, then Garcia, then move up and fight Pacqioua, Thurman and Chaves all before the end of 2016. :think

Stupid is the idiot that made him that offer. Even when he wins he looks bad. I have a feeling that Haymon just plans on carefully maneuvering his career as to avoid potential loses.

Boxing is becoming flat out fake. These fights are set up with that in mind (Garcia vs the bum he fought. Can't remember his name) it's a facade. Maybe broner is in the scheme. Easy money without getting hurt

 

Not just 40 million but also the price/consequences of crossing Al Haymon. If Roc Nation fails, he might be forced out of business.

 

I think Broner should have counter offered for a shorter contract. When you have the "potential" that Broner has, there no use in getting caught up in a slave contract. At 140-154, all I see is bad things for Broner. The only top fighters i'd think he'd remotely have a chance against are Kell Brook and Khan (I can't include Provo or Jessie Vargas atm since they are w/ TR).:-(
