Each individuals different, now you being a elite coach do you think let's say 7 weeks is enough? I'd tell you Ricky wouldn't fight anyone with 7 weeks notice let alone a decent fighter like BONER!
Depends how much quality training you are doing though? Rees and Lockett seem alright with the 5 weeks. Just getting the fight and the platform means 5 weeks is enough for them. Gavin has trained hard for this fight away from home and away from family. I can understand you and Ricky wanting more time, because you genuinely think you can devise a strategy to win the fight. Every team is different, Ricky might feel he needs 10 weeks for this fight. IMO Ricky could do a tough 5 weeks and take it to Broner like no other. Like you said before, a fitter fighter this side of the pond there is not!.....apparently. 10 weeks or 5 weeks though. Ricky Burns is still losing this fight.
its not about gameplans or general fitness either though craney, fighters have to peak, clearly five weeks training after already peaking and not having a fight would have burns physically and possibly mentally all over the place
I cant remember whether Billy said fitter, or more hard working? :huh Getting ld now I appreciate fighters having to peak Brenny, but for a super-fit superb boxer living a clean lifestyle like Ricky Burns, 5 weeks would have been surely enough? Considering the size of the fight and Ricky really needing that "arrival" fight, I would have expected him to have been all over it, especially with the confidence factor..... It was enough for Gavin Rees.....although we may see come fight night, that 5 weeks wasn't enough.....we'll see! :good
In the words of David Haye - "I can't wait for this fight, I've got a f*cking hard on, its gonna be a great fight, A GREAT FIGHT" I'll be getting the 10 inch out come fight night. What? ....... Pizza! My followers will love that! They are all here.....all ignored.....all cant get enough! I feel like Luis Suarez. :hey
People need to be objective and call it how it is. Roles reversed and Broner vacated his title to avoid a Burns fight he would be trashed on here. Then if he was offered the Burns fight and said "I'm not ready," he would be trashed again. Alex Morrison has already said he's trying to make Burns/Harrison for June which is joke of a fight. The facts are there for everyone to see. Morrison said: "We are definitely not going to America. I was the one who talked Ricky out of it."
:good Finally someone who talks sense and not this blind deluded zombie brainwashed hypocritical in denial over protective bull****. This content is protected Though? Maybe you can get some abuse bam bam for speaking the truth for a change.... I'm always getting it! Why always me? :huh
I'm asking you because I thought he said 7 weeks. Again, and you mention Lockett and Rees, these guys are "opponents" who are glad of the shot and the payday.Ricky is a...well you know the story. I'm going to bow out here for now, because I know that you know the score here, and as you know,I'll never be the one to spoil your fun on here.:yep
See that's we're your complete lack of knowledge and understanding of a boxers needs let you down Craney,if in your own words Ricky says he needs 10 weeks to get ready but in your wisdom he can do it in 5 please Craney take up another sport!
If you read again, you'll see why I said 5 is enough. If Ricky Burns is as good and as hard working as some say, then 5 is ample enough amount of time. And like I said, this isn't' like Ricky Burns 10th huge fight, this would have been Ricky's first and arrival fight. Some will say that Vazquez is just that, but Broner would have been more so. Gavin Rees jumped at the chance after being given the same amount of time. If it had been 2 weeks, Rees would have been all over it. Lets not forget, Broner is getting the same prep to. Rees knows how important the fight is for his own career. He needs that take-off fight, this could be it, and it could reignite him, win or lose. But your man turned it down because 5 weeks was not enough. I'm not gonna argue with that or you, afterall, you know your fighter, and your fighter knows what he needs and like you say, everybody is different. But don't you think it would have been better to say - "The fight was on the table, but I don't want the Broner fight just yet, because it's not where I want it, it's too one sided and I deserve better. It's an important fight for me for a number of reasons and also important for Adrien Broner, a great fighter, and we wont rush into it, because I believe I can win and that will take time, hard work, and mental preparation" The fact that he came out and said 5 weeks is not enough, makes him look like a bit of a ducker, especially when later on Rees gets the fight at short notice and is all over it. Who was more deserving at this moment in time? Everyone was calling for Burns vs Broner.... Some will say, if it meant that much to Ricky and he was that confident, he would have been all over it. No doubt about it. But if Vazquez was already in the pipeline before the offer, then I guess I'll give Ricky the benefit of the doubt. But like I said, this next fight isn't of much interest (to me), the next fight and the future is. Where does Ricky Burns go from there? Take off? Or go back to square one? If Ricky beats Vazquez (and thats IF) and then ends up fighting Scott Harrison in the summer. Then atsch
Its about different fighters, and what they feel comfortable with, its not about a physical peak necceserilly, I feel its more mental. As in this is the ammount of training Ricky likes to do to feel he's in optimum shape, and that's what counts. He could be in the best physical shape of his life after a 5 week camp, but if he doesnt think he is it would all count for nothing. You'd know that if you stopped trolling pro trainers and fighters and did a little training once in a while.
