He should have taken Jay-Z's generous $40 mil. offer, because he will only make a fraction of that in his whole career without it. Perhaps he realizes that now, because he has since apologized to J after telling him he could "suck his d@ck." To be a ppv star, you have to be at least one of a few things: dominant, entertaining, likeable, have a big fan base, shown that you can win your most important fights. Broner has struggled against Malignaggi, Ponce De Leon, Maidana, and Molina, E. Taylor. He has never shown that he can decisively beat a good fighter above 135. Not once. Since he's never likely going back below 140, he wont be a major force in his current division, or any division 140 or above.
I think this is wishful thinking out of hatred. Whether or not Broner will be a force in boxing remains to be seen. So while I agree with you, I feel your post is emotionally driven.
The sun's as warm as a baked potato. but any who, anyone can be a ppv star if he conquers the current ppv star. Imagine him giving mayweather a beat down, people would definitely watch his next fights for 50 bucks.
Hate on broner all you want (and its easy to hate on him, he is a loud-mouth, potentially re****ed man-child that talks first, talks second then thinks third), but he is a solid boxer and a VERY durable, strong man. I've been watching his fight with Maidana over and over (it's incredibly fun to watch) and with each viewing I was more and more impressed. If the likes of Floyd, that avoid top opposition, can make it to be a ppv star, then this young man that is facing genuine tough guys will as well. If Broner fights and beats Mathysse, you might see a rising of the said ppv star.
I tend to agree with the thread starter - I by no means have any 'hate' for Broner but he does tend to play the ****y 'bad guy' routine in the lead up to fights. This can obviously lead to PPV s****om - we have seen it with FMJ where a great deal of people tune in to watch in the hope that he gets beat/ KO'd The problem with Broner doing this is that he has been beaten up a number of times and to keep playing that bad guy card when anyone can switch onto youtube and see them taking a beating suggests that the chances of PPV s****om are limited imo.
I think he's entertaining.. And I hate Adrien Broner. Would I pay money to watch him lose ala Mayweather Jr. I'm never paying a damn dime to watch him fight
He's already a star. All he needs is to be on a nice come-back roll and things will be back like before whether you like it or not.
Broner wants to stay with Haymon because he'll protect him from guys like Matthysse Jay z on the other hand wouldn't and he knows it
