I work in construction and it's physically demanding. We're also extremely busy often working 12 hour days. My training is suffering.

I was training 5/6 times a week prior to getting so busy as I was working in head office and not on an actual construction site.

What's the minimum number of boxing sessions a week I need to be getting in to be competitive and improve?

What about road work / strength work? I was thinking of doing this on a Saturday?

I think it depends on how good you are. I could spar with the coaches and they do fine even though it seems like they only spar once a month and don't train much, unless they do it when the gym isn't open and I jut don't know it.

5/6 days a week is ideal.

Realistically, i'm only in 4 days a week. It's all I can do, while competing.
I got a job that has me on the road often. A 10 y/o daughter whose life i'm very involved in. An elderly mother that requires a lot of care and should be in a nursing home, but isn't. I get home 10pm each night. It's exhausting, but hey, that's part of being a responsible adult.
So I try to make it count. Work hard and make every minute count.

There's no magic number. Just do the most you can do with what you have.

    This.

Its also about training to the best of your ability not how long you're at the gym.

Can you put a bag at home to do some work on? Going downstairs or into the garage to get in a focused 30 minute workout can do wonders in not letting skills degrade. Could even help in conditioning a bit.

me, i´m 33, 6´0 tall and weight about 170-175. i fight (and have fought) at basically the lower Levels all my life. i won two silver gloves, but thats it.
however, i´m very expierienced, having about 85 fights in boxing, kickboxing and even a few toughman contests.
i won the majoriy of my fights, but then again, i always aimed low (mostly entry Level competion, or in the open class catagory).
im a jack of all trades at entry Level: fighter, cornerman, Referee, judge and Coach.

in other words: at my Level, i know what im doing. i go Swimming 3-4 times a week (SWIMMING: MY SECRET WEAPON!!! i will do a post on that issue) as an atheletic base.
i teach 1-2 boxing classes a week........that´s where i do my Basic technical Training. i spar about once a week.

thats more than enough Training for me. but then again, i´m talking base Level.
