hi all, I am fighting my first ever fight next week. It's a white collar and it is 3x 1.30 rounds.

I am 6 ft 3 inches and weigh 104kgs and am fighting a lad who is about 5 inches taller and weighs about 130kgs. I have had a quick spar with him but neither of us give much away.

he has boxed before, has a good guard but isn't the fittest. I am pretty lean for my weight and ran 10k road race last week in 45 mins.

How should I fight this guy, I am used to sparring guys much smaller than me.

I am considering spending the first round making him miss if i can to tire him out and countering with lead rights.

    Ant advice?

How's his jab? Is he a standard issue tall fighter(1-2, 1-2, rinse, repeat)? Does he move at all? What does he do when you jab or throw a lead right? Does he drop his guard when he jabs? These are all questions that most would need answered before they could give decent advice.

Hi sog, he seems to keep it to single jabs and a big one-two.

I noticed he moves his head back away from his guard if I double up my jab or slip his jab and counter

45 minutes running does not equate to 270 seconds of boxing for a start buddy. Youll just charge into each other like a pair of Mongo's and then get tired and just do what comes naturally at the time. Just enjoy the experience and try and keep it simple.

    Truer words were never spoken.:deal:deal

Nothing compares to what it's like in the ring when it comes to conditioning, or lack of. It's the latter that will truly humble you while you are trying to suck air through every opening in your worn out body.

My advice, stay calm. What Brown Bomber said is the truth. Stay as loose as you can. Oh, keep your chin down!
